Hi there, I imagine that you get a lot of moaning meat addicts in here so I shall try to be brief, If i should have posted this elsewhere please inform me and I shall, anywhoo, I have a problem. I really really love animals, genuinely, with the exception of spiders, which are bearable. But I also really really love meat and fish, I know the arguments for and against, i know a lot of very tasty and healthy vegetarian recipies but still I crave meat, the bloodier the better. Does/did anyone else feel similar to this and how did you overcome it if at all?

    Cheers!

Fake meat products work for me... like simulate something. For example, my mom makes really good meatballs and I wanted some man! But she bought this fake ground beef style stuff that acts the same way and made fake meatballs for me and they were still amazingly good. Or... I used to like cheesesteak subs, a lot. But I've had them without meat and just lots of cheese and veggies and I swear to you it tastes just as good. Its probably really fattening, but I don't miss the meat!
    Good luck!

I think most people don't like meat as much as they thing they do. It's the spice in meat that people enjoy. Experiment with differnt spices and get lots of great veg recipes and youll be over it in no time!

    nutritional yeast
loaded with protein and b vitamins
put it on my rice, or salad
and it's better and more nutritious than eating a dead animal.

I think when most people decide to go veggie, they keep craving meat for the first few months. I know I did, but just fight the urges and keep fighting the good fight and eventually they'll pass.

If you phase meat out slowly, it isn't as bad. If you get that happy little side effect that keeps you from digesting meat after a two weeks, well, meat gets less appetizing after you see it regurgitated. I know this from experience.

The random meat craving means that you are missing something you once found in meat. Are you lacto-ovo? If so, immerse yourself in cheesy scrambled eggs for a day or so. If you are vegan, do the same with peanut butter. Remember: spinach has iron (fresh or frozen), and lentils mixed with one or two other grains will have the same proteins as meat. As for vitamins. . . erm. . . you can research that one. I have no clue. Just eat a nice variety of whatever veggies look yummy today. The "ooh, that looks good" instinct is often your body craving whatever it lacks right now.
