So I woke up this morning, at about 9:30am GMT (my longest lie in till the weekend) sun shining through my little window on to my face, I had my fattest dread & most wellformed dread trailed across my eyes, they all felt so right on my head, my head pinned down at the back as I was lying on them! After I got up and went to the bus station in town to head off to college, as I boarded the bus I saw this 50-60 year old woman sat near the back, as I moved closer to her, I saw her tie-dye tshirt, her Doc martens (same colour as mine ) her huge backpack with more anti war patches than I have dreads on my head! Her hair from what I could see walking up to her, was pretty short, untamed & bushy, then as she stood up for a stretch and pulled her beanie off, and took her coat off, the most beatiful mature dreads rolled all the way down her back and just past her ass! They were so well formed mature, I just was smiling to myself, a typical business man on his phone for the hole trip stared back while he was on the phone to see me and this woman directly behind each other! His shocked face was a picture! As we all stood up to exit the bus in Newport, I noticed a huge welsh dragon emblem on her backpack! She turned round and we exchanged a little smile about each others dreads and the unity we felt on the bus trip, we exited the bus. Today was a great dready day Peace of the Grove /|\ Alex
awww that's so awesome. I was taking the downtown 6 train from 86th st (fancytown area of Manhattan for all non-new yorkers) It was raining like mad that day and I was soaked. my hair, being newly dreaded, was super frizzy and poofy when it started drying off and people were definitely intrigued by my head, I look over and there is this man sitting dozing off with absolutely beautiful dreads. I sat right across from him and he opened his eyes and looked at me through the packed train, and gave me this peaceful smile and a kind of "we all have to start somewhere" look. Then he just dozed off again with a grin on his face. It made me so happy. I can't wait for more experiences like that! I love feeling those connections with people in such a crowded city. It's a beautiful thing.
too cute! I love moments like that! I was actually at a groundation show the other day...and to my surprise there were very few dreadies. As I was dancing I caught a glimpse of thee most beautiful dready mamma I think Ive ever seen! Her dreads were fairly new but more mature than mine. Later on in the show...I realized her and I were the only 2 women with dreaded hair at the show! She ended up right next to me at the front of the stage and we danced the night away side by side...half way through the show she looked over and gave me a hug! We didnt speak....we didnt have too....it was a complete unspoken understanding. It was so magical!
