Could be called Cannamous. Hopefully that's not too close to Anonymous for them to get bent about it.

it's not about copyright homes. Like a guy who was unsuccessful at committing suicide by attempting to run himself into a sword, you missed the point.

He means that "Cannamous" is a derivative of Anonymous, and that the -chans will eat you alive.

e: It's not a matter of copyright, it's a matter of covering your ass. The -chans turned on their own because they thought activists hijacked their Internet Hate Machine.

They're just trying to explain that as a consensus these memes are in the public domain. Which gives you the ability to use them as you see fit.

With all things there are repercussions. The consensus(hive mind) might be total cool with a commercial forum using the memes to their own ends. They might also get upset.

You can always hop on 4chan and float it out there see what they think of it.

My gut (and it would seem a few others) tells me it wont end well. Who knows you might get some /b/tards to PA and help you all out. Or you might get some unwanted attent/i/on.

Don't know personally, don't care either.

Ya see skippo, these guys get it. Then again, it might just be because of the fact that they're Anonymous (TM) (C) (R)

    LULZ! Nice one!

FYI, I happen to be fully informed on copyright law. I have to be cause I work for a publishing company and advise others on it all the time.

I can understand their desire not to dilute their message.

Too bad they picked such a common word though. And derivatives of that word would be even further removed from legal issues or egofagging.

If my book ends up being mostly about Anonymous (not sure yet), it would probably be somewhere in the title. I hope they won't have a problem with a book that spreads their cause...

I'm sorry, Skip, but you don't seem to "get" Anonymous. If the -chans go after you, it's not because you "diluted the message" or because you "spread the cause". Anonymous has no cause, and no message. Project Chanology (the fight against scientology), which is a cause, is run mainly by Anonymous, but Chanology is not Anonymous. The reason the lulzfags of the -chans turned on the moralfags of Chanology is because the latter adopted a message and a cause.

It's not about copyright or legal issues! No anon will ever sue you for calling yourself Cannamous. However, hundreds of mean-spirited motherfuckers with m4d h4xx0r sk1llz and too much free time will go after you for ruining their bad name.

You'd just be putting up a big sign saying "Please crash my website and spread my personal information on the web - Love, Cannamous".
