so i gave up my second job because it was making me ill. i had pritty bad anxiety, moderate deppression & was pritty exhausted all the time. i never had time for myself or to spend with my fiance, family & pets. i have just the one job now, woking 8 hours aday instead of 13 hours. when i was doing the two jobs i ate pritty badly too, i never had time or energy to make good meals & lived off tined, packet & ready meals & alot of the time i would skip meals.

now i have much more time too cook, relax & do the things that make me happy instead of working my ass to the floor. i love to cook good healthy wholesome meals from scratch. its costing us quite a bit more to eat now because i'm actually eating properly & regualy yet we have a lot less money.

i find many recipies you need to use herbs, i do buy fresh ones from the supermarket but i find they dont last long at all.
can you grow your own herbs out side?
    will they last longer?
i live in the UK & it can get pritty cold & frosty now winter is here, will i still be able to grow them outside?
when can you start to grow them?
    should i start now?
we arnt getting that much sun now that the clocks have gone back. we get about 6-8 hours of daylight & many days its raining & cloudy so it dosnet really get light at all. will this be a problem for growing?
do they have to grow in pots or can you have a patch of garden to grow them in?

also, we have decided to grow some veg. we what to grow the veggies that we eat the most of, stuff like carrots, parsnips, broccoli, onions. we dont have a very big garden but my fiance has built a growing box to try & grow a couple of the veggies in, its about 2m long, 60cm wide & 60cm deap, would this be bigg enough?
how do we know when to start growing the veggies?
we have alot of cats in the area, how can i stop the cats using our veg box as a toilet?

any help on growing your own would be greatly apreciated. we dont have much experience in this area at all. we are in rented accomodation at the moment & the landlord has given permission to grow what we like in the garden. we wasnt planning on staying in this house when we first moved in 4 years ago but we did end up staying & we will probably be staying even longer now.

we cleared the very small front garden this summer. it was all over grown with ivy & this purple crawler plant. we have put a few plants in ourself & we are quite proud of it but we want to take the next step in the gardening thing & do some growing of food & herbs.

I'd recommend you check out http://squarefootgardening.com/

Also, most herbs and leafy veggies will grow fine indoors under standard 4 foot tube lighting. I have my set up on a cheap auto timer I bought for about 5 dollars at Wal-mart so it lights for 12 hours a day.

I don't know about the growing seasons in England. I'm sure there are lots of people in your neighborhood who garden and can give you local advice.

For inpsiration, I found this youtube vid for you: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jt2qDOwxiUU&feature=related

    good luck!
