we don't have a place to live because we can't afford $800 a month for a fucking studio with a hotplate and a mini fridge.

    sonoma county is SO expensive.

basically. we're staying with someone who doesn't want us there, so we have a roof over our heads, but it sucks balls. the plan is to get into low income housing, as soon as we have a verifiable source of income (right now it's all under the table stuff.)

oh, but that's what you've been doing all along, right?

i think i misinterpreted your first post as saying that something happened where you were literally out of a home...

You have to have a verifiable source of income to qualify for low income housing? That sounds like a Schwarzenegger plan to me!

yes. because they want to make sure you're not making too much money, and that you have enough to pay even the low income amount.

it's actually a brand new housing development going up, with a cohousing principle. it looks really cool. it's still being built, so it might be a few months till we can get in there, which is good because we need to save money.

the only thing i'm worried about is the credit check, cause mine is TERRIBLE.

there's a link to the plans for the community. it'll be like an urban low cost commune with privacy. it sounds almost too good to be true, haha!

and undies... no, nothing new really... just shit still sucks, lol! we're planning to be out of there in january though... doing a month housesitting for a friend, who said that if we still need a place to stay after housesitting for him, we can stay with him until either our place is ready or until we find something else. so we're getting closer to freedom, but it's still pretty frustrating at the moment. patience is not my strongest virtue! :)

haha! yeah, i think we'll get in, cause they're still looking for people, and the application deadline was SUPPOSED to be in july. so i'm thinking they don't have enough people to fill up the units, which is perhaps why they haven't finished it yet. i'm not sure when it's supposed to be finished, but i'm thinking by spring. but it doesn't look ready yet, when we went over to drive past.

i want to see floor plans before i commit to anything though. i wish i could find the floor plans to their units, because i don't know if we want a one or 2 bedroom. i would prefer less space, so we don't fill it up with more useless junk... but i don't want something TOO small either. maybe we should just call them and get more info. :)

$0. Ha. But that's because we're taking Daniel's parents' old house off their hands and keeping the land from their neighbors. We live here rent free, aside from utilities.

for our 2 bed, 2 bath - $1000 a month, not including utilities. Laura and I are pretty much stoopid for living in a 2 bedroom by ourselves... but lease is up in march!

NTH, come to austin! we can hook you two kids up with a lil' room for cheap! hehe..

£400 a month for a room (not bad size) in a shared house with 5 other people.. includes bills thank fuck. Cambridge is a fucking expensive town to live in, but 's cheaper than London.

I have good connections, so all i pay is utilities.

But houses here are super expensive
one room costs about 650 in a shared house, my folks mortgage is about 5,500 which they can barely afford.

Were u asking, how it was possible that my rent is so low?

I live in employee housing at the Grand Canyon. I live in a little 1-room apartment...some of the managers live in a 1-2 bedroom apartments and their rent (they pay seperate for utilities) isn't even as much as some listed on this thread
