My neighbor wants to teach me to knit and I thought leg warmers or stocking caps w/ears (like lil' kitty or bear ears :)) would be fun projects... If you know of any links or sites that would have patterns for anything like this please lemme know

I taught myself to knit and it took me quite awhile to perfect it. I started in about February and I'm still only doing scarves. Althought I think a beanie would be a good project for me to start on soon.

My recommendation would be to buy a few rolls of yarn and maybe make a matching leg warmers, hat, and scarf set that way you can progress. I'd also recommend starting with the scarf, then moving to the leg warmers. I'd also suggest making a simple beanie as opposed to a hat with ears, unless you intend on sewing them on.

I don't know of any good patters, but if you google free knitting patterns, you will find more than you could imagine. Also, there are a lot of magazines. One that I've found that I like I think was called Knitting Vogue because of its non-typical ideas.

    Good luck!
