my blondey dreadlings are about three or four months natural. and some days i lovethem. the whole idea of dreads usually fills me with joy. but some days i just wanna comb them out before it gets to far. its a bloody mess. (no not actual blood) it doesnt help that my family hates them eepzors... i need incouragement or something
well i think that if u want something no one will stop you . and natural is longer than backcombing them so it will be a longer process , which is proving that you really want them. so dont let your family take you down.
So I just got fired but I'm been dreading the natural way since like March or something. I have three small ones in the back, a bunch popping up in the front and a big ratty-looking Afro (yes I'm Black, but it's still a lonnnng process). It does suck but trust me you will be more pissed with yourself after you comb them out and want to go back. Because you'll wonder what you woulda looked like if you didn't start over. I put mine in like 20-25 big plaits(NO COMB) and took them out again and started separating the loose hair again. Trust me, just keep separating and play with the ends a bit because it introduces the hairs to one another. What does that have to do with getting fired? NOTHING, because I was on the job like this and got discharged for completely unrelated reasons. But now I gotta cover up with headbands or whatnot if I wanna interview with someplace else. You'll grow to like them. To look "professional" headbands and buns are your friend.
http://www.hipforums.com/newforums/showthread.php?t=270541&f=209 I just keep looking at this thread when I get down on my dreads. I scrolled through it and it helped me even get the courage to dread! My family isn't too keen on mine either, but don't give up hope! I'm in my beginning stages right now, and it's super awkward, but just letting my head do what it does is a great lesson in life. p.s. bandana's, dread bands, tams and wool hats are a life saver. but you already know that!
