Hey everyone, I use the NuvaRing for birthcontrol, but I'm not feeling comfortable wearing plastic inside of me all the time. I checked some info on monitoring your body temperature to see when you're ovulating. It sounds great to me. Anyone out there who uses this method? I was also wondering if I can start monitoring right away, while still using the NuvaRing, or will the ring influence my temperature?? Please share your experiences! Thanks! x
As someone trying to conceive at the moment Ive read a lot about the whole thermometer ovulation watching and stuff. And honestly I wouldnt use it as birth control if you really dont want to get pregnant. Its so unpredictable. Your temp could rise because you have the flu, or have been drinking, stressed, or any number of things unrelated to ovulation. You can also ovulate twice, although its rare. Or ovulate early before you get a chance to take your temps. Or as sperm can live for 5 day potentially inside you you could assume you are safe too early before your temp rise. Basically its all a bit risky and inaccurate and theres always that chance, whenever youre "unprotected" If youre not totally against having a child come into your life right now though id say go for it. You can get ovulation tests that tel you when youre about to ovulate too, and allsorts of nifty gadgets, which of course will lower your chances of conception if you use them to avoid certain times along with the classic "rhythm method" Sorry cant tel you about the ring though Good luck
If you're on hormonal birth control, none of the ovulation monitoring techniques apply to you, because the bc prevents you from ovulating in the first place. If you get off of it, there are other ways of tracking your cycle that are more reliable than temp. When ovulating, you'll have more discharge, and you may feel hornier. It also happens approximately 2 weeks after the first day of your period. You can go to mymonthlycycle.com and they'll track it for you for free. But if you want a more accurate reading, just get an ovulation monitor. (Again, when you're off the ring).
i tracked my ovulation to my prime day to get pregnant and we knocked one out that night. it was also the horniest i've been in ages. i wouldn't use it as bc.
Uhm, for the opposite outcome. Like I said I wouldnt advise using it as BC Actually I dont chart temperatures just yet. Id just forget to do the bloody thing, and anyway as I said they can be inaccurate depending on whats going on at the time Lots of people use rhythm/ovulation tests etc to lower chances of getting preg, but its not BC
