Anyone here use the Depo-Provera shot? I'm going to the gynocologist Friday to get birth control and I was just wondering before hand if anyone had any first hand experience with this? I'm really thinking about this one because it would be so much easier than having to remember to take a pill everyday (I'm already really bad at that) and I definitely don't want anything implanted in me! Right now I'm reading up on info about it, so I'll post any worthy finds.
i used to be on it. great except i was a raging bitch for 3 days around when i needed a new shot, and i gained a lot of weight on it if you hate taking something daily, you should look into nuvaring as well - you insert it vaginally once a month and it has the same hormones as the pill does
I know a girl who has three children, all accidents, while on the shot... and i hear it totally kills libido
Ah, I opted out and just got on the pill. Yaz. I think it'll be okay. I looked up the side-effects and nothing seemed too serious (well, compared to other pills, anyway).
I have been on it for over 11 years. I love it. There are a few side efffects with it but They all have side effects with them. Your doctor should talk to you about the different ones now.
I'm 2 months into my first depo shot. I'm surprised I haven't read anything regarding the calcium issue due to depo. My Dr. advised I take 1000mg of calcium a day to avoid the loss of bone density that's associated with the long term use of depo. The upside to this is my long hard ass nails. I've read a lot about the weight gain but so far I haven't gained anything although I must say my sex drive has decreased dramatically. It's either that or the mild depression I've fallen under. And things have been a bit "dry" lately. That's my experience with it. I'm still going for my 2nd shot in December.
