Earlier this year my town had a whole lot of dolphins that washed up on shore. I mean like hundreds just in this area... there were whisperings of it being because of the chemical plant that we have in town. Someone told me that they were dumping toxic chemicals into the water. I don't really know what happened, but I wouldn't be surprised. It stopped for a few months but I read in the newspaper this morning that it is starting again. Some people found like 12 of them washed up on a sand bar last week. Hopefully it isn't because of chemicals... in the paper, they said it could be because of the hurricanes that have hit. It makes me really sad, they only saved like 3 and now they are in a zoo.

It could be alot of things. Sonar from a large ship off the coast could of sent them adrift, definitely. We dump all our waste off shore too, but we have'nt really seen anything wash up.(yet) It's sad though, it really is. I hope they find out what's what and put and end to it.

edit: my bad, we did have some beached dolphins a while ago. 12 or so I think.

I cried when I read your post, morningglory. I know, I'm an emotional weirdo. But it's just so sad that humans would do that to such beautiful creatures.

That's terrible. I am a softie when it comes to animals. My gf makes fun of me for it all the time. But I think animals have just as much right to life as humans, and since we are so destructive to our environment I think it is our responsibilty to take as good of care as them as humanly possible. I don't think we do that though.

    you can say that again...

but man, that would really bother me too. dolphins are VERY intelligent animals and the only animals who have sex for pleasure other than us, so yeah that would really get to me too, those poor innocent creatures...maybe theres something you can do, start a petition, inform people, write a letter to the plant or the mayor, cuz God knows they deserve life more than any of the people who do that to them...

I think chimps screw for fun too, but that's besides the point. It is sad that these beautiful creatures, animals that may prove to be sentient and aware, are being killed off because we dump shit in the oceans. How is that even legal? Why does anyone stand for this?

Hey man what you should do is verify what happened and if it is the chemical plant surround the buildings and dont let the owner or manager leave until he promises to change how he gets rid of the waste that'll help everyone because when they pollute the waterwill evaporate and them become our drinking water so its really a problem that concerns everyone not only dolphins. good luck man

in my town there was chemical plants who for sure poluted our lake and now its, i believe, 3rd most man-polluted lake in the WORLD! would you believe that. i mean i can see it out my window right now. and it makes me very sad, theres fish that are beginning to live there again but they dont recommend eating more than 16 a year because of all the mercury in the lake. its pretty disgusting. sometimes in the summer it just reeks. ok im disgusting myself just writing about it.
