So do you believe that only advanced irrigation techniques should be used or do you think it would be more beneficial to incorporate genetically altered food into the overall plan to feed the starving people of the world? As for whether or not corn oil causes cancer I don't know, I have never heard of corn oil genetically altered or otherwise causing any type of cancer. And if I were starving in Africa with great irrigation ditches to many people and not enough food I would be happy to take that so called risk.
Heres a little bit of reading on the potential risks associated for ya'. Source: http://www.responsibletechnology.org/GMFree/MediaCenter/ReleaseAustrianGovernmentStudy/index.cfm Now keep in mind, you are not simply saving the lives of a comparitave few with the potential marvels offered by the ideals of what GM foods promise, you are cursing the entire population of the world to live with the same chronic, long term ill effects of GM crops which would very likely turn mankind into a sickly race of Stunted, Cancerous beasts in the long run. Now part of the reason for the desire to develop GM foods comes from the desire to increase productivity, more yeild for the same effort in order to feed these starving masses. But you see, this stance looses absolutely all validity when we in fact have Governments who are subzidizing their Farmers to not grow foods for the sake of keeping global prices in check and keeping the industry of agriculture profitable. Were Farmers to grow food to capacity, we would be buying Corn at $1.00 a Bushel instead of $1.00 an ear, they would practicly be force feeding us Potatos and Beans as we walked into stores simply to move the massive volumes of crops that can be produced if the Farmers were to grow foods without holding back. Now in the worst hit areas of famine, the reason they are starving as I have stated before is due to the way their agricultural practices in the past had relied on provenly harmful fertilizers and pestecides which is a majority of the reason the earth is worthless in the state it is currently for the sake of growing crops. But, if Aeroponics were to be used for a time as a means to quickly start providing a food source for the starving masses while more traditional methods of Organic gardening were begun, thereby revitalizing their farmlands to a degree which would allow the establishment of sustainable Agrarian permaculture techniques that would ensure they would never be faced with starvation again, and it works just as good if not better than rushing in with the Frankenfood which would contaminate the worlds food supply thru cross pollinization. And in the initial outset of the whole project in these very arid regions, (Arid partly due to lack of Forests and Greenery which helps a great deal on an areas ability to retain humidity) Aeroponics would offer the greater advantage as it very sparingly uses both Water and Nutrients while still providing amazingly increased growth rates and overall yeilds, equaling and surpassing even that of GM crops with the same old traditional varieties we've been eating for hundreds of years. Mabey this will help. So whats your eagerness to make everyone risk their health for the sake of trying this new science out when theres clearly multiple alternatives, the easiest of which being of course to encourage Farmers to grow as much as they can. Instead of subsidizing them to let fields sit without crops growing, Subsidize them to grow all they can and use our surplus to help feed the starving minions of the world while we help them to reestablish their agricultural capabilities as I mentioned previously?
Frankly I'm thinking you just like how I word things and in fact fully support my ideas as you've offered no real proof of the supposed superior advantages of GM crops or solid argument against the methods I propose, but that can be our little secret, I like how I word things too.
i'm not even going to take the time to read this. I am only going to say because it is yummy and they would eat us too. so eat me.
I like that Seeker, Eat them, before they eat us! Eat or be eaten! Ack, imagine the great Cow Rebellion of 2012, no wonder the Mayan's didnt write about it, they'd have been mocked thruout the history of man were it widely known. Eat more Beef & Bring the Mayans out of Hiding!! I've got some questions for them,,
People eat meat because they believe that animals were put here for human consumption. My family are all meat eaters but i made the conscious decision to not eat meat. People who eat meat are selfish and only think about their life and could care less if billions of animals are slaughtered so they can support their lifestyle.
People eat meat because we learned how to by watching the rest of the animals in nature do just that a long long time ago. Then we learned how tasty it can be. Followed by how good it is for us in moderation as with anything else we might consume. Of course now we're learning how bad it is to try stuffing them with growth hormones so they get bigger, quicker. Dog will hunt. Of course if he eats something thats really bad for him, dog will also crap on the floor or vomit in a corner.
i don't understand this. i never have anything to say about vegetarians and their lifestyle. One of my best friends is a vegetarian and never insults me about my personal choice of eating meat. as a matter of fact, if there is a party and i'm making something, i go out of my way to make sure there is no meat in it. or i will make it a point to tell her if there is. but i never insult vegetarians. so you vegetarians need to stop acting like you are above us meat eaters. who are you to judge? it's ridiculous.
I was a vegetarian for sixteen years, but I've paid the price for it in terms of ever deteriorating health.
I just wish I understood why either side feels so compelled to be right in the ultimate sense of the question. I mean as far as nutrition goes, I think alot of it depends on a number of variables like Metabolism, Allergies, simple Caloric intake required for type of career, i.e. a desk jockey or poet dont need nearly as much calories to keep them going as a blue collar laborer or large scale organic farmer. and I'm sure theres more to that list. As far as health concerns, Omnivores and Vegans alike both face risks from eating foods produced by agricultural methods which have been industrialized with emphasis on growing food more abundantly for the simple goal of maximizing profit, not for the sake of producing a healthier food source and often results in either food which is simply lower in overall nutritional value or carries with it side effects to the consumer from antibiotics, pestecides, growth hormones. Both sides are kind of screwed unless they do careful research on where their foods come from and how it's grown as the overall food supply for both camps is being trashed in the name of Greed.
We eat meat because it is natural for us to do so. It was part of or evolution. Meat is protein we needed to live. Without the meat eaters in or past we would not be here.
my bf says that nature gave man the k9 teeth for that reason , that we need to eat meat . i differ but he loves meat , and he feels that if mother nature put them there then they have a reason thus why ppl eat meat . i just tend to eat lil as can be
Because the avocado truck is gonna shmuck a lotta little critters coming all the way up here. There is blood on the veggies at the supermarket as good as the meat. It's just less conspicuous. People ate meat here in the winter and summer for as long as the tribes can orally record. Sorry this is not an equatorial climate and the only way to support a veggy/vegan lifestyle in this climate is to inflict the carnage of transport trucks driving from California all winter. A lot of animals get killed on the roads. A lot a drivers miss their families. I eat what's around me. If it's meat that's great too. It doesn't mean I'm uneducated. I know all about the veggy thing. It would be cultural genocide for many folks to eat only veg. Not to mention there are lots of deer just wandering around here all winter. Don't see much veg in the winter. Now, if I was on the beach down south sitting under a coconut tree, I may be eating differently. But fish, I couldn't turn down the fish. I'd be eating the fish. At least they get to live free. No has to slave on a farm or drive a stinky truck. I could go on but I think you can see where I'm going with this one.
I glory in eating meat because it helps rid the world of lower animals; next come the humans. mmmm BBQ baby on a stick! Have fun, play safely, and eat your honey!
