I don't even know why people bother listing high dollar items on Craigslist anymore

Everytime I list a car or any other high dollar value item on there, it results in one of two ways:

    1) People email me, and straight up lowball with RIDICULOUS offers...like offering $15k for a car worth $21k that you couldn't buy anywhere else for under $20k, even on the best of days.

    OR

    2) People email me, show interest in the item, ask 1000 questions, ask for a ton of pictures, keep contacting me every day for a week straight, then come look at the item, then think about it somemore, and THEN lowball with a RIDICULOUS offer.

Case in point, just had some guy come look at my car...he called and and we talked price literally 4 or 5 separate times, I even came down in price for him more than I wanted to, we both got to the point where we agreed it was a good price. Then, lo and behold, after honestly two or three full hours of talking to me about the car and negotiating over it, he just steps in and says he has $X amount of dollars to spend as his absolute max, will I accept it? And of course, it's thousands and thousands less than what we had already agreed upon.

    FUCK. YOU. CRAIGSLIST. FAGGOTS

it's not the dollar amount that is aggravating, it's the percentage. CL is seen as a barter's community so people feel its okay to try to "negotiate" a price. I usually offer 80% of what the person is asking for. For a $2500 SUV I will offer $2000, a price difference of $500 total (doable, but probably frustrating for the seller). For your car, however, an 80% offer would be losing $4500 and would be completely unacceptable. But because CL is seen as a bartering community you have to deal with this trend. Either that or take it to somewhere where the prices are more firm.

I did buy a $1200 guitar amp for $500 on there, but no bartering was involved

I also found an apartment on there
