how thick are they? my heels are insanely thick, but that kinda stinks because you don't really use your heel. the front is actually soft and flexible, but tough. my friends wanted to see my soles, and I compared them to my friend's.. one of my friends soles where just like my palms! less tough, actually, more like normal skin... it wrinkled and stuff. my soles have toughened up somewhat, but I guess I've always just had thick soles.
have you ever compared yours to other people's?

pads on toes and ball of foot are quite hard and calloused. Sole of foot between toes and heel is quite soft, however heels are very hard and cracked on side of foot and back of heel.

The entire bottom of my foot is incredibly soft, it's pretty weird actually ha! I like it though and I would rather have them soft than hard-er and calloused. Pics in my gallery :p

my feet are really soft too, but the skin is leathery... not by the texture on the surface, but the durability and such.. I have no callouses, I don't see how anyone can.

i call mine calloused it might be the wrong word but i don't want to get into semantics. I walk a lot on asphalt and concrete pathways and bare earth so they get very dry and hard. It's a drought here and the dams are only about 35% full so there is no soft grass to walk on around here. I don't rub my feet with any lotions or potions and i have dry skin to start with. Maybe calloused is the wrong word, but i just enjoy living my life barefoot as much as i can outside of work hours.

I don't have any pics yet (been busy working on some for the Erotica forum), but, let's put it this way - I can extinguish a cigarette, s l o w l y, on my heels and balls (of feet - get your mind out of the gutter!!) and not feel a thing. I can even hold a flame from a lighter or match against the same for about 30 - 45 secs or so and not feel it. I don't know how they compare to others as I haven't had the chance to do so, although I wish I could have that chance with a woman. Ummm, touching and comparing feet, now that's AWESOME!

BTW behindthesun93, awesome feet, and I love your posts as we have a lot in common re venturing out into the world sans shoes. It's been down in the 20s here recently and I'm beginning to enjoy the burning/freezing sensation from walking on very cold ground.

I've been barefooting regularly for many years now, and the skin is thick and leathery, with soft padding underneath. Good for stony ground! Hard skin is prone to cracking, which is not good. I fix cracked heels with "heel repair cream" which is available from most drugstores.

Yeah, I'm in northeastern MA, so the same area as you. hehehe... last night someone saw me barefoot and says 'how are you not wearing shoes?'
last week it was cold, now we have another warm front, now it's 50 degrees and rainy, blegh

About the thickness of my soles, I can only guess... I haven't done a longitudinal section of them as yet to measure them... :D
All kidding aside, I have that leathery type of soles as well... callous doesn't build up on the bottom of my feet, as the concrete surfaces I walk on as well abrade that quite swiftly... I tend to get callous at the outward sides of my soles, especially the heels, which sometimes cracks (not deeply) and which I regulary file down to get rid of the cracks - and also to make my barefeet look good.

In order to tend to my living leather, I regulary use a bag balm sort of cream to keep them tough, yet supple.

    sole, before "foot care", and:

the other sole, after a little foot care (and there's the aforementioned small crack on the heel, too...)

But even the living leather is not impenetrable... didn't have that happen in a long while... but on my way to work today, I had something sharp cut my sole... oh well... guess I will be a little footsore for a short while.

Yep that happened to me back in the summer. Got the minutest piece of glass stuck in my sole. Didn't exactly hurt, but kept bugging me. Was two weeks before I extracted the damn thing. Amazing how deep in a tiny bit can get.

I had the opportunity to do just that a couple of years ago. There was this attractive mother in her late 30's who lived in the same apartment complex as I did and would often see her roaming the grounds barefoot. We discussed barefooting a couple of times previously when one day during my own barefoot stroll I unintentionally met up with her. Out of curiosity I asked about her soles, in which she showed me the bottom of one foot. I touched it briefly, yes it felt nice! Silly me, I didn't think of showing her mine.

Besides that, my soles are not overly soft but not hard and calloused either. I have used a foot file, but at times it's created heel cracks from filing down the skin too much. Each day I apply some lotion and then I'm good to go. They may not be tough enough to step on a lighted cigarette, but they can easily withstand rough surfaces and various rocks.

Come on, lets here it from more ladies out there! :toetap05:

My soles do feel a bit tougher from barefooting inside, but I do still wear shoes outside, so not as tough as many of you.

Mine are tough with calloused heels and front of the sole and most toes. I have no problems on rocks, hot pavement, streets, gravel, etc. That being said, I used to see a woman who had the filthiest feet around Washington Square Park. She most likely lived on the streets. This was about 20 years ago. She once let me feel her soles. They were much softer than I thought, yet she went barefoot on scorching pavement with no discomfort. Everyone's tolerances and skin are different.

I had on ex-gf who had very leathery but not calloused soles. Like mine, they retained dirt stains very well, especially in hot weather.

Well, for one thing, the picture at the bottom of your posts would have to be of your feet, right? Plus posting in a barefoot online forum--but I guess that's not always the case. ;)
