so, im thinking this might be a nifty way to pull in a little extra cash, and read some cool stuff. i enjoy editing other peopels documents. yeah, i know, im weird, but whatever. anyway, my coworkers aunt apparently works for scholastic doing this, as an independent contractor. i hav eno clue how to get into doing it, particularly since it'd be fairly casual for me (like, work on it evenings or one day a week or somethign). and yes, my writing (when i try) is significantly better than what i write like on the fora guess im just wondering if anyone round here has experience/knows a way to get into this on a casual basis. there is one publishing company in my city but its tiiiiiiny, so its probably not a great option
You probably need a degree in the field or something around it (Writing, English, Linguistics) if you actually expect to get paid for this.
one of my best buddies in Maryland does this for a company "recorded Books" she doesn't have the education....but they messed up on that because they require people to have a literary degree of sorts. helps her mom works at the company too and that she is damn good....alot of the super intelligent ones in my life haven't gone to college. Good luck. Perhaps you might have an in due to knowing someone.
i do have a degree, but in commerce instead i dont really know someone, i know someone who kind of knows someone. but apparently the person who contracts for scholastic doesnt have a degree, or so my coworker says. i dont want to make like a bajillion dollars doing it, i just enjoy editing stuff... id offer to do it through the uni for peoples papers but we have an english centre that provides that for students with english students, and we have a looooot of ESL students and trudging through their writing isnt really what i wanna be doing (esp if i ended up doing it for free, since the uni service is free)
