It really bugs me when people tell me how i should be handling my dreads... i was at drum circle last night and this guy was all like "your dreads are coming along nicely, you know if you use "certain kinka wax" it will help them take shape and look nice." At this moment all i could do was see the look on soaringeagles face . The guy didnt even have dreads and i didnt have the energy to explain to him that he was horribly WRONG! i love my dreads the way they are JERK! lol
You don't have to listen to others opinions... believe me they will come your whole life. Had a freind who wanted them... just was too much of a pussy to do it. Im bald I can't have um Be proud they look good and don;t give a shit if anyone else tells you otherwise! I think Im getting the fear!
well at least they dont mistake you for a homeless person! My first set of dreads I was mistaken for a homeless lady while dining at a restaurant! hahaha. Some old lady dropped a dollar at my table!
sounds like a lousy pickup line. its funny that he doesnt he even know what type of wax hes talking about he-he
yup, dreads are natural ice-breakers and are a great way to start a conversation. too bad he didnt know what he was talking about and failed miserably
I hate it when people say, "oh how long has it been since you washed them!" then they go on about how its just going to have knotted ends & the normal hair will grow out! It pisses me off, they think its an instant hair style, they are happy to insult me as much as they want and tell me how it looks shit on a white boy as its meant for 'Jamaicans' FFS I've been getting really pissed off recently, the other day I couldnt take it in class, just walked out before I lost it, my lecturer is just as bad Twats.
ppl piss me off1 Ppl always tell me here how to do them tis your jpurney ppl should just let you take it. sigh off my soap box now.
Yea, a materialistic view somehow creeps its way into everything these days. People view many things simply as a product or commodity. Things need to be fast, convenient and either sell able/buy able. Regardless of why anyone thinks dreads should be a "certain way" who cares? You know? Seriously, rock the casbah with your dreads, do what YOU want with em and seek happiness through your own freedom of thought. Obviously you do (in terms of the dreads) if that's what you think after having heard his recommendation of wax...good to know there's other dreadies out there that don't grow em because of a "fad" affect. Yea, I'll step down off mine as well...it seems like there's a lot of people in this dread forum that tend to stand on the same one though.
I work front line customer service in the tourism industry, so I meet alot of people in a day. I get alot of positive feedback about my dreads, especially from senior ladies for some reason... I also get alot of questions and hear alot of misconceptions. I don't get offended or angry at their ignorance, I take the opportunity to teach them about clean, natural locks and de-bunk the myths that they have heard. It's not their fault that they haven't experienced dreadlocks or that they have picked up some of the dreadlock myths that are floating out there. Spread the dreadlock truth!
