I am going to quit alcohol and going to rehab to clean up my ass. What about you? When is time to quit smoking the weed and clean your life?

There is a time when smoking no long is worth it and no longer serves a useful purpose and it time to go sober and clean.

For a lot of you, smoking weed serve you a useful purpose so I ain't going to fight you. Rather, I am talking to those guys who that are smoking weed and know that it is no longer serve them a useful purpose. For those dudes, this is the post you have been waiting for. Look I am fighting for the return of Federal Parole for drug dealers and want the Feds to pass a federal medicial marijuana law so that those gives make me uber-liberal on the drug war.

I just know the pain of the addiction and how it pain it brought to my life and I am trying to help those that they have. We are trained to think aganist establishment and if the establishment tell us to smoke, but if we do not want to smoke, that it is time to resist.

We need empower ourselves to fight addiction. Empower can either spiritually or on psychology.

I see lack of serious emphasis on this forum on addiction recovery. Not under my watch. If I am going to full-blown recovery, than this sight will now have a place so recovery will happen either on 12-step or non 12-stpe basis.

it's good to hear you're getting sober from alcohol, especially if your life was effected negatively by it.

I know that I quit smoking because I took 5 grav bong hits and barely felt anything...

It just wasnt working for me anymore, and was getting ridiculously expensive.

Also, I've been in a 12 step program since I was 13, and it has helped me a lot, giving be many tools to cope with reality.

P.S. English isn't your native tongue, is it?

good for you getting clean. what most people forget is that weed is meant to enhance their life, not be their life. and when one can't distinguish between the two, then they need help. and it seems like help is what you have needed, and is going well for you. for the rest of us who can handle a little weed with our life, then, well, we'll just keep on trucking as we are until we reach that point where weed has surpassed it's original purpose. if and when that point comes, then it'll be no more weed. and honestly, i have no plans to reach that just yet. but who knows what the future will bring. we just have to keep in mind that there are more important things in life than weed.

First off congrats on realizing that you need to clean yourself up, kudos to you!

And second, responsibility is the key here. As long has you have decent self restraint and good judgement you can smoke pot (and other things) till the day you die, as long as you are responsible and don't let it get in the way of your life. Sure even pot can be damaging to some people, but for others they are actually more productive to society with a little pot thrown in the mix. So stating that eventually everyone has to quit is a little over the top. I think I read a story a while ago about a lady who was 100+ yrs old and she said that the key to her longevity was smoking marijuana cigars every day.

i quit smoking pot for 6 months to completely lower my tolerance, but I see no need to entirely stop. I personally feel alcohol should be made illegal, and have pot take it's place. in my 7, almost 8 years of smoking pot, i've never not once seen any die from it, get killed over it, seen a family destroyed because of it, or see anyone rape someone while they were high. yet, those things happen almost daily because of alcohol. i hate alcohol, drinking is the stupidest thing.....at least when you're high, you still have SOMEWHAT of a sense of what's going on around you, and you don't end up regretting what you did the next day........i wouldn't quit smoking if i were you. drinking, absolutely. drinking causes nothing but anguish in the end. smoking generally creates harmony....

Smoking cannabis exacerbates my happiness and serves a purpose of enjoyment. I don't need to clean up my life, i'm not dirty, i'm a cannabis user, there's a huge difference. If one day i decide to quit i guarentee you there will be no 'pain' from the 'addiction' it's all in your mind, get some will power if you have to quit. If it affects you negatively then don't do it but don't expect other people to be like you, most people enjoy it.

The rastas were right- herb only and only when its necessary. I used to smoke almost all day but ive been slowly cutting back to where i only smoke after 4:20 and only smoke 2 bowls a night. I am finding that im enjoying life more and that getting high is much better when its actually a head change and not just feeling normal.
