    Hi :)

Well, i´ve made my dreadlocks 3 months ago, backcombing method, i've used wax to start them, and used wax 4/5 times, and NO MORE... and i have some questions...my dreadlocks now, arem much thinner that when i first got them... is it normal? will they recover "fatness"?
other thing, when i wake up my dreads look very flat and with strange shapes like S's and whatever...when will this stop happening?

    :p thanks folks

Hopefully you got all the wax out. If its still there your dreads will never grow properly.

The flatness will cure itself in time.

Hot water. Near boiling, hot water. Soak and scrub. Just becareful of your scalp. Depending on how waxy you are, it might take a few attempts to get it all out. Little bit of Dawn, doesn't hurt either.

Will it damage your locks? They'll take some punishment depending on how formed they are and how you scrub, but it's worth it.

you can also ttry the methid in the wax removal stickly just read through every post

but besired the wax screw up let me answer the rest of the questions
if backcombed loosely the thinning means tightening
getting fatter can happen as they shrink up ..it can also happen by congo'ong
but if they were just loose and puffy (lots of air pockets between hairs) as they dread they will tighten up and be thinnerr

the crinkliness and flatness isnt helped at all by the stiffness caused by wax
but dreads when young wi9ll do crazy things loop liker crazy zig and zxzag change shape you name it its all a growimng process that giveds em personality
just get all thast wax out which isnt easy to do but once its out they will take care of themselves
also find a thread i made called "the solution to the knottyboy/dreadheadhq scam (and bump it plz) and send the wax back with that letter demanding your money back

    post some pics

yeah you shouldnt worry about it to much now...just leave them be...mine were really fat 3 days after...now they are quite thin...but they are tightening up nicely for 3 months.

they don't look that waxy at the pic, i think they're thinner because of the fluffyness in the beginning , they're getting tighter. Just wash a lot, and maybe they'll get thicker. And I wouldn't worry much about the wax, if you didn't put much in, only worry if you put lotsssssssss in, otherwise it probably washed out.

those are not my dreads, lol.
and yes, i only put wax 4/5 times, not more, and, i went to the beach several times this summer, so, i thinks that the wax (well, most part of it) got washed....

my dreads didn't shrink in size (until now), but they became thinner... hope they'll fat up with time...

my ends doubled up into the tops and they became fatter (and MUCH shorter) between like 3 months and now (a few dreads are still in the process of doubling upward)

    ah, ok.
today i washed my hair with really hot what, the water turned kind of brown, that means that some of the wax has gone, right?

anyway, i think that i have a small quantity of wax in my dreads..
    :)

when dreads start to shrink? mine are 3 months old and they haven't shrink until now...

wax is evil shit to get out u do need very hot water and extreme ammounts of work
u probly did get some out today, id try doingthat a few times maybe with the added steps in the wax removal just to be sure you really doi not want any of that to stay in
as for shrinkage everyonesprogresses at didderent rates and the wax can slow it down alot or even prevent progress so the shrinkage in yours might not be typical compared to shrinkadge in the next guys
if ypouir shrinksge didnt start till when others usualy stopped then you may be in for a few months of shrinking still
nothing to worry about just keep agressivly going at getting the gunk out and once theyre good n clean the process will proceed just as it should

    riiight! : )
i've heard that dish soap is good to remove wax, is it true?
and, for when i wash my dreads with the hot hot water and the other "ingredients" of wax removal, what should i do? soak my dreads with that for a few minutes? and then scrub the dreads?

yeah everyone is different, by three months the length of my hair had shrunk by more than half! now i'm at 5 months and i haven't noticed any shrinkage for a few weeks but the ends of my hair barely touch my shoulders and before i started my hair was a foot or more below my cleavage, in the back actualy it nearly touched my booty, it was longer in the back. sorry if i mention this too much. it's just i haven't gotten over the shock that my hair got so short, originaly i thought it would only shrink a few inches lol

Each mornign i wake up and the back of my head (aka back dreads) are flat, then when i hop in the shower and wash em they puff up back to theyre normal size again, but the flatness will cure itself anyway over time as the dreads progress in size and maturity

today i washed my dreads again, with hot hot water, and this time, the wax has almost all gone.
my dreads are now softer and less "compact", but, now on they will start to really dread, right?

    thanks ;)
