I was too tired and high to go to the voting booth yesterday, but my whole family voted yes on 2 and it passed!!!! Now Mass citizens are allowed to carry up to an ounce of marijuana and face only a $100 fine and confiscation of their weed. THe law goes into effect 30 days from now. I still can't believe I did time for weed when I was a kid and now that I'm 19 its decriminalized. oh well. :hateace
http://www.boston.com/news/politics/2008/election_results/ma_question2/ what happens to all the people in jail because of marijuana related offenses?
Congrats, guys. I'm not into it, but I believe in the right. It's a step in the right direction, anyway.
unfortunately, I dont think that they release prisoners when laws change. But This is pretty wonderful news nevertheless!!!
Ya Michigan passed prop 1 which was for medical mj. I will have to wait till im older to see if i can qualify to get a card or doctors note or what not. Still stoked though, i didnt think we'd pass it.
That's great to hear man, it seems like a lot of the norhtern states are linient on this... Same thing in NY too, $100 fine.
what I want to know is....because its decriminalized does this mean that you will now be able to get it medically and there will be medical clubs in Mass? The bill stated nothing about medical usage, only decriminalization. So are those two separate matters?
Seriously? You're legal and of age to vote, and you were too high/tired to do so? That's not cool, and makes a bad name for pot smokers. no, this doesn't allow medical marijuana or medical clubs to start. it doesn't make it legal either. it just means you won't be charged with a crime if you posses less than an ounce. they will still cite you and seize your weed. it'll be like getting a speeding ticket (civil violation), which means going to civil court and paying an annoying fine, but you won't be arrested and it won't go on your record as a misdemeanor or felony. this is of course assuming it's not a federal officer that catches you (like a DEA agent), in which case you're still fucked.
It is a matter of erosion not revolution, brick by brick we dismantle the shithouse and it's shitty laws.
http://www.mpp.org/library/2008-ballot-initiatives.html scroll to the bottom where it shows question 4 in MA. was also passed stateing so we may be getting closer to medical in MA. in the near future
yay i go to hampshire college in MA! but OP, did you really just say that you were "too tired and high" to vote????? WHAT THE FUCK! you're lucky that all the people who voted yes on prop 2 weren't too tired and high to vote like you, or else you wouldnt be enjoying this new progress!!! get off youre stoned ass and vote, its the least you can do!
