A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship. The average age of the world's greatest civilizations has been 200 years.
Great nations rise and fall. The people go from bondage to spiritual truth, to great courage, from courage to liberty, from liberty to abundance, from abundance to selfishness, from selfishness to complacency, from complacency to apathy, from apathy to dependence, from dependence back again to bondage. . people arent sure about who wrote the above qoute but is it true , and if so what stage are we in .

do people worry about the national debt and that we are set to get the country (thats you )further into debt by giving trillions to the bankers , we used up all our north sea oil sold it for $1 a barrel when recently it was selling at $140 a barrel , we sold all the gold the country had at a bargain price .

as i can see the country is just pork bellys and short term thinking

This is way to long to read. I think Rome lasted over 200 years but I'm not sure. can you just capsulize this thought into 10,000 words or less for me. I have a short attention span. and I already had to go pee two times just trying to get through this. When is intermission time ? I need popcorn and a pepsi. If your point is that people are lazy and stupid than I agree !! If not the whole thing is lost on me. I'm sure you made some good points here I just can't sit still long enough to find em. remember brevity is the soul of all wit. sorry but I've gone off to long myself too. I need a nap.

    Peace

your scenario requires those wishing to acquire power to willing to destroy the country's finances for their own immediate personal gain, though I distrust and even dislike many politicians I don't believe them to be that stupidly selfish
