Black. white what the hells the difference. They all come out the same in the wash. Lets see what he really does. Course he can dance really good ! great ! Peace
are you saying that only black people voted for him? that's ridiculous not everyone is in the KKC<DUMB
what choice did you have between obama and mccain two people owned by big money and that will get america more in debt slavery , neither of which are going to do anything about the coming oil crisis . I wouldnt have voted for either , Id have voted for ron paul who would have got rid of the federal reserve , who is actually anti war unlike obama , is against giving trillions or ordinary americans tax money to bankers unlike obama . obama was big moneys choice look at the way ron paul was treated by the corperate media and obama is treated by the media . but wow he must be radical change I mean man he keeps saying the word change a lot http://www.infowars.com/?p=5755
I don't think anyone is under the illusion that Obama represents radical change, but of the only two possible outcomes of the election, this one will lead to a slightly less belligerent foreign policy and a slightly less rampantly elitist, corporate driven domestic policy. Slight differences yes, but nonetheless significant for that.
Ok, I haven't read all the thread yet so I apologize if I'm restating anything that's already been said. Barack Obama was elected because of his politics, and the changes he will represent. However, it is also a MOMENTOUS moment in history for the USA for their to be a Black President. It wasn't but 40 years ago (or so) that black people were allowed to even vote in the US. There are many who were alive today who remember the separate toilets and fountains that had to be used by 'colored people'. So for the White house to finally not be quite so white, is a momentous thing. THIS is one of the reasons there were over a million people that turned up to watch his victory speech. It is not only down to his politics, but because of what he represents. It represents a tremendous change in the tide of how things are done in America. And it is the color of his skin that is going to put him in the most danger, sadly. To say that being a black man in the White House is not an important thing, is really just naive and a bit ignorant. I know what you mean, no, it shouldn't matter what the color of his skin is. However, in America it unfortunately DOES matter. In fact, leading up to the election, in many places they were preparing for riots no matter what the outcome was, and there is no doubt in my mind that the only reason they were preparing for people to riot was down to the color of his skin yet again. It shouldn't matter, but again it DOES matter. And to some people, this will make him a larger target as well. Hopefully the Secret Service will be able to protect him, so we can actually see what change he brings.
seriously WTF is the difference.. man, racism is getting old.. hopefully next generation can realize what immature, uncivilized idiots this generation is.. we are all the same when it comes down to the essentials.. we are all carbon based lifeforms who all need the same things in the world to survive.. but im waiting till his presidency to make judgments on how he actually works.. and people are not brought into office to change things.. they are brought into office to help preserve the established governed system.. All politicians can do is make laws and pass bills.. not change the world.. lol that is up to the people, science and engineers. terrorist: (noun) 2. a person or group whom challenges an established governed system.
if america voted for robert mugabe would that be a MOMENTOUS moment suppose so hes black , I remember before margret thatcher people saying what a great change it would be to have a women primeminister . well she was a bit of a change but not really because of her sex, I think powerful people wanted obama to be president mccain was a bit of a lame duck candidate . what change does obama represent apart from his skin tone , hes in favour of giving trillions to bankers , hes in favour of the war . tony blair in theory is a socialist but hes sent us to more neo-colonial wars than any conservative , george bush got elected saying he wanted a humble foriegn policy and less government spending
As usual the bare bones of sense in your argument are fleshed out by the ridiculous extremes of your examples. America didn't vote for Robert Mugabe, it voted for Barack Obama. It is true that it is an historic occassion America electing its first black president. However all that means is that the majority of white Americans have been willing to accept a black candidate on an equal footing to a white one. That they have become more colourblind does not make them policyblind. Obama is black only in the colour of his skin, not the colour of his politics. I seriously doubt America would have elected a black panther, or a 60s civil rights activist....
The high voter turnout and feelings of hope that's gone before and come after the election, and the "validity" it's given the US Presidency.. most people are saying these are really positive things! I think it shows that things are really, really fucked up. Like, even more so.
They all come out in the wash as smelling bad. And in the end will follow the money. Yay we have a black prez ! Meh.. who cares it's what's on the inside that counts and Obama is hollow inside. Wait and see! Peace
I am so freaking happy that Obama won.... there really is a sense of hope over here in the States, and I have been hearing the international reaction, and I get chills every time. As for the race issue, I really hate that it keeps getting brought up because I think that there was waaay too much attention place upon it HOWEVER... I read in the paper that the third oldest person voted for Obama. She's 115 years old, and her parents were slaves in Georgia. She is a direct descendent of slaves. Now that really puts into perspective how important it was for some people that a black man is president.....
I think Obama won because he's a long way from Bush. He's a democrat, he's eloquent, he's not a redneck Texan, and race is perhaps another factor though that could have gone against him as much as for him. Basically he's come in as a breath of fresh air after Dubya. I don't know how Americans feel but I'm certainly sick to the back teeth of 8 years of Bush's moronic rhetoric. It does remind me of Blair coming in after over a decade of Tory rule. I felt elated then, but we all know what happened after that...
