I know it's not kosher to repost articles from elsewhere, but I thought this piece really summed things up. It also caused me to weep anew.
I am a middle aged white guy, growing up in the south during the 60's I saw first hand some of the hate. I have always had black friends and never saw them in any other way than "just another guy" they weren't black or white, they were my friend. I too cried, it is such an amazing thing. I knew it would happen (black president) but never thought I'd live to see it. I'm glad I did and more so very glad to help make it happen.
If Obama fails to deliver on his social programs to help people, he'll be hated even more than Bush. Between that, and the money sucking Iraq war, something has to come in second place. And Obama thought the campaign trial was rough... x
yes, now comes the hard part. I never heard obama say the campaign was rough. I'll thank you not put words in the mouth of our president elect.
GO OBAMA!! I am so happy, so happy, so happy he has been elected! Happiness has rendered me inarticulate!
I was weeping too ! Geez the only other time I got real teary about the news was when the Berlin wall came down. It was pure joy ... nothing like when you hear they started a war ... I was just so touched. Yup sometimes change comes upon us like soaring wings, or the crest of a rolling wave, to take us to a new vista, and a new dream that only now we recognize. Of course, what comes with it is quite a pile of work always ... which is good ! Who says we are done now ? Change does not stop here. Shutting up now *sob*
