I saw something the other day and it was real to me but unexplainable. This was a one time event. I want to know if it sounds familiar to someone. I was at my sliding glass door and in the c-channel that the door would fit into it if I opened it fully was a fluttering black mass ,a manta-shaped thing of 3 or 4 inches. It seemed to be paper thin but solid.My dog was watching it also.I thought it could be some massive insect but I knew it was unlike any insect I've ever seen.So after a few moments I grab the security stick used to block the door from sliding open and go to poke this thing.Well if two very human eyes open up and look at me directly. I pull the stick back.These eyes were so expressive almost 3d compared to the thin mass of the body. I go to poke it again and it curls up and disappears. WTF.
Not any bug I'm familiar with. My first thought was moth, some get big and have false eyes but I don't think that quite fits your description. As a general rule though I would try to avoid poking black masses with 3d eyes.
Dude Supposedly there are ghosts that take up residence on door sills flat black masses they wait for something to pass under of a weak mindset and enter the body At least thats what I have heard this sounds similar...
sounds like what is called a slider. there is a hypothesis, that beings from other dimisions and universes can slide between them, most times unawares. it sounds like when you poked the slider (if that is what it was.) it slided out of our universe. like i said, this is a hypothesis. let me ask you this... you think, that maybe, someone could have slipped you some bad acid without your knowing it?
False eye's? I 2nd the the idea of a moth. Speaking of false eyes, I somehow managed to get to 6 years old before I knew of peacocks. Imagine playing in the backyard and seeing one of those walk up the sidewalk. Turns out, a local guy raised them.

Do you think rods are fake? I can tell you they are not.. I live in a swampy area. I see them all the time. They are so swift you think they are something else. Im convinced they live in water and can fly.. When I first saw one It looked like it was glowing in the dark. I dont think they glow. but are more tubular than the still pic of the one on the youtube. I could hear it also. The one I saw was very long at least 12 -16 inches. I think its just a flying stick bug..

the "rods" look like the beaters out of vacuum cleaners. but that's another thing entirely from an insect with human like eyes that disappears into thin air. i'll go for the sliding between parallel universes. i've done that myself on occasion. (and i don't mean on mind altering substances either)
