I live in a Mormon town. These people are f'ing weird...like a good weird. I always thought they are fucking nuts. Now, I think they are fucking nuts but ubber nice and beautiful, like superficial beautiful. And yes, I swear to f'ing gosh I am the only non mormon here, and that must have stuck out because some morm dropped by a brochure for me to take a look at. hahaha
yeah, mormons are wierd. and to be honest i dont like them -in general- but as conservative and in-your-face as they are, i still have yet to meet a mormon who wasn't extremely kind, polite, and friendly. plus they take all the teasing in stride. i haven't seen a mormon get upset once. of course, this is all just the mormons i've been exposed to which are devout and believe in their religion. i've met one or two young men who were raised in a mormon family, yet they were wild...drug users (including alcohol and that dreaded caffeine! ) promiscuous, foul-mouthed and inconsiderate. the "bad" mormons i've met have been really unpleasant in general. the "good" mormons i've met have been really kind and wonderful in general, though still unpleasant. just in a different and more likable way.:cheers2:
If you don't like the mormons that knock on your door then watch this: http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=ZT2cIpzMDY4
The few Mormons Ive met have been some of the nicest people Ive ever met, and they were also very attractive.
I've had lots of them. They are really pushy and try and question you, ask you whether you know what their religion is about. Why don't they go to Saudi Arabia, try it, and get executed?
my closest friend is mormon. she's crazy. but ii'm quite fond of her, and i always think that it's a shame that she's mormon.
opening the door naked when they come knocking on your door is a good way to get them to never come back. or maybe i'm thinking of the jehova's witnesses. are they different? anyways. mormons are into poly relationships which is good. that they try to do it in a christian way is shitty. like one man married to a bunch of women. that's just creepy.
mainstream mormons do not practice polygamy, it is something of the past. there are mormon splinter sects which still practice polygamy, mostly within utah afaik, but the vast bulk of mormons do not do so. in fact, if i'm not mistaken, you may be excommunicated for it. assuming you are a disciple of JCLDS. the mormon church proper. but i don't know that this is an absolute. it's just what i was told by a certain mormon i used to know. still, i think they're wierd, slightly creepy, and my theological perspective is quite different than theirs. but still, most of the "real" mormons i've met have been wonderful people
I often get the feeling i have experianced religion very differently from others. I wonder why it would be that a mormon has never come to my house, i have heard about it before.
I'm a product of mormonism, nothin I can do about it. you see that it is a sick system once you break free of the manufactured guilt they operate on. the politeness and nice appearances are mostly a sham. most active mormons do not enjoy happiness; they only chase it. How content is one really with their religion if they insist on converting everyone to it? How true is a testimony if you constantly have to proclaim it? I don't have to bend my mind into pretzels to ensure that 2 + 2 = 4, why does every active mormon have to nail their rational side to a cross in order to maintain belief in mormonism. The church promises something that never has to be delivered, and the cost of it is everything a person can give. Most mormons are intelligent and talented and ethical, but they are constantly reminded they aren't doing enough for the church and they all feel guilt for falling short. The guilt is the fuel and is the reason we knock on your door. The LDS church is nothing but a greedy corporation masquerading as pure religion, which is why they are concerned with appearances (no facial hair, women can have only one pair of earrings, huge lavish temples that don't even get used)...they know that people really are just attracted to wealth and security and the image of it keeps the members paying tithing and attracts new members. Mormonism is not what it seems; it's an institution of mind control the only things that have changed are what the leaders are taking from the members. It destroys families and alienates its members from an authentic soul and from the rest of humanity. Perhaps the world's most successful cult. (unless you count catholicism)
A few of my best freinds are mormans but they never bring it up or talk of it ect. Not like them damn jehova witness shits and them baptist pricks.
I have family members that are members of the L.D.S. church. It took me some getting used too after spending some time in the Baptist and Pentacostal churches , the Mormons are so quiet and somber during worship.
I always get Quakers and Mormons mixed up. Is it one can have multiple wives. The others ban televisions. No thats Amish ... Duhhh!I'm no good at religions, confuses me..
wow. ok. i am mormon, 4th generation on my dads side, most if not all of you are inaccurate. i dont practice, nor believe in mormonism, but i will say, wow, you all are completely ignorant of the religion, fear breeds false speculations, and mythology i suppose. mormonism is not a cult, as much as you insist it is, its a mix breed of jeudaism and catholism. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is a non-profit organization that does not practice polygamy. cjclds is mormons btw.
...spoken like someone who has only read the church's version of its history. i'm also 4th generation mormon, I also served a full mission and believed in the church. I didn't know what people meant when they said mormons were a cult until I left. the whole "follow the prophet" mentality is the essence of cult-worship. baptizing 8 year olds after having them repeat mantras (I know the church is true;i know JS was a prophet) as soon as they can talk, also very cultish. the church is a clever conditioning machine. it hooks people at a young age so its members will look at his family as indistiguishable from the church. the church knows that the family unit is the only thing keeping the church together; people have far too much guilt and sadness betraying their family if they want to leave the church. the church wants returning missionaries to marry as soon as possible, even if they can't afford it. they keep you celibate so that you will be desparate to get married just to bust a nut. then you're stuck in the church since in many cases apostasy means divorce. they do all this because they know people won't stay in their godawful church otherwise, since it's a house of cards. they exploit natural human feelings for their own agenda and if you do all you can do receive the Lord's blessings and they still don't come, it's your fault, never the church's. and they constantly dangle the carrot in front of your face knowing they never have to give it to you. it's a clever system and they are good at keeping members in the dark. by the time a member can question the church, they don't want it to be false so they won't accept its falseness, and that is what is really disturbing. there''s a lot we don't know about the church ; it's always whitewashing its history. ......also for a non-profit organization they sure are secretive about their vast financial holdings. yeah, non-prophet.
