I am curious if anyone else has gone so far in Hinduism to have a Hindu name? If so what does your particular name mean? Literally and what it means to you. Mine is Krishna Prem, it means literally "Beloved Krishna"...this name was received from Sri Kirishna Prem and the influence he has had on my exsistance.
Do you mean you recieved your name personally from Krishnaprem himself? (I mean the being formerly known as Ronald Nixon) If so, you must have been pretty young at the time......unless this took place on a subtle plane. If you did - wow - lucky you.....
I'm not that lucky... I guess that would be in how it is interpreted. He did not personally give me this name. It was given to me in a sense that one is given what they receive. Sure it counts... It literally means Sun? I wasn't born Hindu...
That's pretty cool. Personally I have felt some inner contact with Him, and also with his great friends Dadaji and Ma Indira. He was IMO a Mahayogi. Still, I don't have a Hindu name, as I don't really consider myself a Hindu. However, I have two younger brothers, so I'm already Dada to them, even if they don't cognize it in that way.. Shanti.

One of the things that inspires me about Krishnaprem is the fact that he was a westerner, yet attained such a high level in yoga that he is widely accepted by many Indian born people as a great saint. I'm sure you know that Ramana Maharishi and Sri Aurobindo both thought highly of him. Personally I have no problem in people changing their names. Some paths give a new name, some don't. If having a new name helps someone get closer to the Divine then all well and good.
Yes he attained a great level. I have encountered Indians however (I guess you have this all over) who do not like foreigners converting to their sacred ways. But, when something speaks to you one has no choice but to listen. I have seen Sri Aurobindo's works but, I do not know much of him. What of Neem Karoli Baba? I have had dreams with him giving me things...I am in possession of something from him (books) or as my people say when things are given to you in dreams you truely possess them. I had to seek him out I did not know who this was giving me things in my dreams. At the time it was very odd.
Have you read Dilip Kumar Roy's 'Yogi Sri Krishnaprem'? There is a lot in there in general, and also a bit about Sri Aurobindo, as well as some comments he made on letters written to Dilip by Krishnaprem. Personally, Sri Aurobindo is my main guru. Neem Karoli Baba was great - and also I agree about dreams
I strongly advise it if you're into Krishnaprem. The book is out of print, but usually available on abebooks.com Just some quick background - Dilip Kumar Roy who wrote the book, was a notable disciple of Sri Aurobindo, a writer, musician, singer and poet, and later on a guru in his own right. He was for many years a close friend of Krishnaprem, and carried on a long correspondence with him. Many of these letters from Krishnaprem are reproduced, and they are filled with his immense knowledge and bhakti. They are truly inspirational. There is also much other stuff about both him and his guru, Sri Yashoda Ma. Also there are 2 books by Krishnaprem himself which although probably also out of print, are worth tracking down - 'The Yoga of the Bhagavat Gita' and 'The Yoga of Kathopanishad'.
haha i was born hindu , and my name is so long that I don't have the energy to write it here, though I will say what it means to me, a pain in the a$$ , I mean really , everyone , just everyone butchers my name, I don't know if it would be fair for all these americans either to have to deal with such a tongue twister.
