I was going to reply to the way this thread went south.....but I won't. Hope is the Thing with Feathers Hope is the thing with feathers That perches in the soul, And sings the tune without the words, And never stops at all, And sweetest in the gale is heard; And sore must be the storm That could abash the little bird That kept so many warm. I've heard it in the chilliest land And on the strangest sea; Yet, never, in extremity, It asked a crumb of me. Emily Dickinson
The thing is going on about it and turning skin colour into a big deal will NOT make it better. Never Those who say race doesnt matter...theyre on your side, my friend. Theyre on humanitys side. Theyre not aying you should deny all sense of identity, its about embracing everyone and not obsessing over the skin colour when it doesnt matter, its the person that matters By clinging onto this "it matters because theres still oppression", youre making it worse. There plain shouldnt BE oppression. Accepting it and perpetuating it isnt the answer Cant you see that going on about the black and white divide is only going to make it worse? Cant you see that making one of the biggest things about this president the fact that he has black skin is only adding points on racisms side? The votes were for the man and the politics, NOT his fucking skin
WOW.. People really think Obama will change things and make it all better. Hahahaah to funny. America is broke… we are a desperate country a new puppet isn’t doing jack shit for us except entertain people like you guys. But you won’t like Obama if you think he is what makes the next depression and wars. The Obama puppet show might have a sad ending even if he is black.
it may not matter to you it matters to them a lot of people are looking in the mirror and smiling [and crying tears of joy] this morning i am sorry you want to take that away
I think you are going to be surprised by the American people. The four dollar and more gas prices, the end of credit as we have known it. These things have changed the mindset of the US citizens. We know how to find bargains, a lot of us have been struggling for years under republicans to just get by. If anything is going to change in the years under Obama it's going to be our new view of exactly what markets can and can't do. The realization that you have to live within your means. And that also means Wall St. will be required to do so. Both the poor and the wealthy will have to sacrifice. American's lived through the great depression and shared with their neighbors. We struggled with the influx of returning GIs after WWII. During this next decade we will rise to the occassion. Unlike under Republican Reagan policies we will not allow our returning veterans to become street people. We will look with compassion on the less fortunate. It's a new morning in America.
He didn't create this financial mess, he didn't start the war in Iraq. But he and the US citizens realize he will have to deal with these republican messes. I personally feel he's up to it. More so than the alternative.
I am just so relieved to see that the majority of folks who had the gumption to get off their asses and vote are not ignorant rednecks!!! It gives me some hope that this country and the citizens in it are not so far off track as things appeared for the last 8 years. Think what you want, but electing Obama is a huge step in the evolution of our government AND our culture, and things being the way they have, we NEED a huge evolution forwards.
The American people are so tired of the politics of fear and hatred. What the decryers don't get is what we want, what we needed was someone to tell us not what we couldn't do, but what we can do. The McCain/Palin ticket just didn't get it.
If money is the only thing that defined your status, then you deserve to lose it. The fact that it's all gone now, is more the result of your republican friends than this election.
I like to feed my kids. It may seem selfish to you, I know. It is somewhat important to me, though. Abolish welfare all together, and we would be much better off as a nation!
And one more thing... Can someone PLEASE tell me WHAT Obama is going to do for this country? I have yet to find one Obama supporter that can actually answer that question. The only answer I get is "change stuff". Change WHAT? BTW..I am NOT a McCain supporter, just anti-Obama. This country has not had a qualified candidate in 40 years, and that includes Obama.
Do you REALLY believe that taxes wont go up for every working American? Not income tax, but every other "hidden" tax will. I'm afraid of what will happen if I sell my house for a "profit" (after paying property tax, insurance, etc, there is NO profit). He has said he MIGHT raise capital gains 37%!
