To a small extent yes, except for a few albums. Take Pink Floyd's catalogue, erase 12 albums worth of songs and you have one of the greatest bands of all time...actually, erase the arrogance, the conceitedness, the lack of emotional honesty (non trite that is) and you have one of the greatest bands. I just think the crap that makes up a majority of their music shows their true colours. They have tainted talent. I'm only being so harsh because they are slobbered and wanked over by people like you guys. Pick someone else.
this guy your right to question the soul of the band at moments, but when it's there, it shines brighter than 99.9% of other rock bands. not to mention, I owe my life to them so I have to back up their genius of creating music that gave way to the most amazing and beautiful me.
i think you can see hints of what was great in every album. and i think they truly tapped in to something spectacular for quite a bit. inspiration comes and it goes. what matters is they produced some of the most incredible, inspiring and timeless music ever to exist. but, to each his own, i suppose.
Who is he? Its going to take me about 25 minutes to load. Dude, they changed my life too. I went through this insane period of mind expansion and freedom just out of high school, it started with radiohead and it moved on to Pink Floyd, then I got really bored and realized how little their music actually related to my life, or anybody elses, or how much they have actually done for the world, which is nothing. Then the Smiths came along and finally I could enjoy a band that didn't TRY too hard. I'm not saying the Smiths are better, nor am I saying they're my favourite band, but I can't get sick of something that just paints a picture of life how it is....instead of a pseudo-psychadelic socially conscious arrogant....well maybe i'm just being self-righteous but I sort of felt betrayed when I realized i'd been duped by the Pink Floyd phenomenon. I still harbour bitter hatred. *shakes fist*
hes a friend... an amazing man. If you can listen to a track, listen to "to be" beware, it might make you cry. it's beautiful stuff!
Same, especially the Beatles. Revolver will always be one of my top five albums. Still, I think the reason why a lot of people never move past Floyd and the Beatles is because huge numbers of equally talented artists are buried underneath the overratedness of the super groups. I don't get it at all. I think its unfair, and I don't know why people stand for having the same old crap shoved down their throat for decades.
I will listen. The first track was awful, sounded a lot like that Aussie/American dude, whats his name? John Butler.
You need to be less sensitive. I have my suspicions that you will get sick of pink floyd eventually. Or maybe i'm the one in the wrong? Maybe I am just an overdramatic musical snob. I did really like "to be"....its a very sweet, calming song. The guy has genuine talent.
twas a joke! no disrespect, my man. ill take 1 for 3! ...whenever the Pink Floyd Laser Spectacular rolls to your town, you got a free ticket, k!
