btw how are the children of 'joe blow' ever going to get more educated

when the employer of 'joe blow' fights taxes that might educate them?

and your assumption that owners of wealth are more intelligent than workers is beneath contempt

One thing great about the wealthy is that they pay the majority of the tax burdon in this country. Every day you should wake up and be thankful for the services that their tax money has paid for.

By the way, I have been a member for two years longer than you. Have you compared our post count? You have only been a member for 9 months and you have 75% of the posts that I have made for 2 years and 9 months.

it is true that the richest of the rich more often than not give employment to the rest of the country. but it's also true that barry obviously hangs out with people who held communists sympathies back in the 1960s and 70s. his idea of wealth redistribution sounds a lot like a marxist idea to me. it's just too bad barry enjoys hanging out with the wealthiest of the wealthy too. otherwise his words might be a bit more sincere sounding.

First, i presumed you are a hippie because you're posting in Hippie Forums ~ my bad.

i didn't assume, nor did i imply "that owners of wealth are more intelligent than workers."

What i said was "someone that is a LOT smarter, more inventive, better educated, more talented, whatever, should make more than Joe Blow, putting in his 40hrs/wk" and asked you if you believed that. Evidently, you don't even understand the concept of working harder to gain more, for YOURSELF and YOUR FAMILY, whom YOU are responsible for...

And i stand behind that. Someone who works harder, smarter, longer, w/e, deserves more, period.

i don't think a guy who runs a jackhammer for eight hours a day deserves to make more than a brain surgeon does. it takes a lot more education and study to become a neurosurgeon than it does to become a construction laborer.

Another typical socialist point of view. Give your $$$ to the government so they can determine every aspect of your lives. Comrade Lenin would be proud.

As for contempt, what could possibly be more comtemptable or more concieted than the statement that only a socialist govenment school is worthy of educating your children?

except i never claimed to be anything but a layabout

spent most of my day walking along the banks of the yellowstone, looking at rocks and birds and such

tomorrow i will walk 2 miles [no car] to a friend's house and watch the election results [no tv either]

the day after that i, uh, i don't know...

a brain surgeon serves the wealthy

if i had need of one do you think i would ever be able to acquire their services?

whereas a man with a jackhammer serves everyone

when the man with the jackhammer gives me a big enough headache that i need the brain surgeon ask me again

    eh?

i don't believe anyone, even myself, advocated government determining every aspect of anyone's lives, that sounds a tad paranoid on your part

for the record, part of the confusion maryjohn alluded to in his post to me re social/communism stems from the fact that i am in fact much more of an anarchist of sorts rather than either of those two [and i tend to be more aesthetically than philosophically inclined]

    also...

i don't have any children and was not aware that i was advocating a 'socialist government school', unless you consider all public eduction to be that

i guess all of you fearful people in here must be so wealthy that you have something to lose from a socialist government

[not sure how the centrist obama has anything to do with socialism either]

and if you are so wealthy why are YOU posting in the hippie forum?

[i thought hippies started COMMUNES and such]

please tell me that you don't think that the poor should be paying all the taxes

    services...

i walk mostly on unpaved roads, have no healthcare, my privatized utilities are expensive as hell, i mostly eat rice and beans [recently doubling in price] so food safety is not an issue, there is public water of acceptable quality, umm...

low-crime area so police not much needed [i have never seen one get out of their car here], no muslims [except for myself when i am feeling ornery] so no fears of terrorism, oh yeah, there are those right wing christian anti-tax nuts up in jordan, but they're all in jail now...

not sure what i am missing, my life is pretty simple

so please tell me what to thank the wealthy for, except for the exhaust fumes from their big cars

why is the the elite wing of the left is always so far off the chart that they can't even see their own elitist socialist views? btw, if you think Obama is a centrist then you've lived in your socialist bubble for far too long. As for wealth, anybody with a $5 bill in his pocket is obsecenely wealthy by socialist standards. Your post certainly drives that point home, Wy are you people so against having private money? Is providing for yourself and putting food on your family's table realy that much of a crime to the stalinist types of the world? why don't you people leave the common folks alone and let them provide for themselves as they see fit.

As previously stated, Comrade Lenin would be proud.

your statement is particularly interesting because it reveals so much about you.

Sort of the political equivalent of someone from Georgia wondering why the rest of the English speaking world doesn't understand it has a variety of funny accents. What seems normal to you, is a funny accent to the rest of the world.

We all live in bubbles, more or less. But we can go a long way towards understanding the world through something called "critical thinking", which can diminish the tyranny of said bubble over your views, or at least expand your bubble so it includes more than the ideas that appeal to you on a gut level.

When the rich and powerful and that includes corporations stop asking for legislative protections and bailouts, then I will consider that their taxes should be reduced.

The latest is the push to protect big pharma from liability by preventing consumers injured by their products from bringing suit against them if the FDA has approved their product. I wonder how much in lobbying cash went into this?

We all seemed to love big pharma during the stem cell research debate.

That Stem Cell research bill was loaded with perks for Pharma, but hey, if it pisses off the pro-lifers so much the better.

Perhaps they can wheel out a Michael J. Fox or a Christopher Reeeve and it will change perceptions ablut the current legislation
