Just started growing and from looking at other peoples pictures my seedling looks hella tall. I am allowing for 16 hours of light and it seems like every day the thing skyscraping. Is this normal for it to be this tall without the 2nd set of leaves? Am I doing something wrong?

    Pl Help
    Thanks

how far away do you have your light? if the light is too far away it will make the seedlings stretch like hell. so lower the light so they wont have to stretch. and add a fan so they can start building some support. cause they are really skinny

the rule of thumb is 1 gallon for every 12 inches
so if you put it in a bigger pot, you can increase your yeild

^just depends on your personal preferance and grow style, IMO. I grow single cola style and flower 'em out in less than 1 gallon of soil........they go anywhere from 15-24+ inches tall and put out from 14-28g dry per plant. But then i've seen a guy on another site growing in DWC tubs and pulling 30+ ounces dry per bush/tree!..........but then again he is a god ;)

ok, so im not the only one appearing to derive minimal yields...

i use about 2gallon containers and pull about 20-25g per plant without any training techniques and using organic ferts.

as for the plant discussed above, im gonna go out on a limb and guess that you are/were using a standard incandescent lighbulb.

you want at least 30w of cool white/daylight flourescent lighting within 6 inches of the plant per seedling. this will up to about 60-80 as it gets bigger.

as for the second picture (the recent one), i cannot tell if it is showing nads or a new branch from this angle. It is possible that you have unfortunately grown a male (useless), but more pics are needed to confirm this

^lack of heat shouldnt make it tall, should it?

but id suggest wait a week and then get a few more pictures of that node. im giving it a 50-50 of being either a male nad or a new branch shoot

I am using a circular hanging plant light as well as a UV desklight lamp. I am up for suggestions being this is my first and I just ordered from nirvana some ladies. How big should this be at 4 weeks from seed?

well, i was right, you got a male on your hands. id yank it if theres any females down there, since those nads look pretty ripe already

as for light, the plant is still quite stretched and needs more.

use at least 30w of dalight/cool white flourescents per plant at this stage. that will rise to 40-70w per plant as it becomes over 8inches tall

my method is to get one of those fiberboard ceiling tiles, about 10 plastic sockets (2$ each tops), 10 feet of lamp cable (8-16$), a plug (2$ most), 4 6-foot chains, and 8 heavy mounding hooks (you will need bolt-type ones on the rig and screw types on the ceiling), as well as 10 23w cool white bulbs that you can add/remove as necessary from the rig.

it will cost you 100$ at most, and will provide a suitable light source for bringing about 5-6 plants to the point of flowering, when youll either switch in an hps of some warm-white flouros (hps is ideal)

attached are 2 images. 1 of my lightboard, and one of how variously sized seedlings should look under sufficient light

well, the 1st was a test and he gave me a bunch of ideas. Just went to a hydroponic store and got a hanging grow light and a floating seed starter setup, looks amazing. Also got some Nirvana love from Holland. Snow White here we come
