your math is off, but i'm nit-picking. sounds weird to me - DNA is made up strands of sugars, phosphates, and 'bases' - i don't see where these 11 steps come in.
Well there's no math stated that can be off. And I also know what DNA consists of. What I'm talking about is within our DNA, whether it be 11 or 1000, there is a section that is 'unused' and 'inactivated'. I will continue to search for the correct term scientists have labeled this information with, from what I remember they gave it a lose name as they were still unable to explain such a thing..
Okay, it's called "Junk" DNA. Here's the wiki, but there's plenty of new/updated information on the net.. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Junk_DNA Scientists say within this junk DNA lies the key to human evolution..
Evolution is a constant process, so humans and all other organism are still evolving. It's just that at the moment humans aren't really being selected for any specific traits. It's interesting that this is probably the first time in history that every stupid, lazy, couch-potato in the world is capable of having five kids. In cave-man days they wouldn't last long enough to reproduce.
See I was the same way. My 2nd grade and 3rd grade progress reports both are straight A's and great conduct. My 3rd grade teacher even wrote something about me being the most learned in the class. But it seem from then on my social life began to rule my educational status. I stopped caring about learning because the topics weren't interesting enough. I think classes need more field trips. My entire high school career I did not have a SINGLE field trip, anywhere. Field trips can relax students, and depending where you go can interest them greatly in certain subjects. Schools nowadays seems more like a prison than a place to learn. Also making class regiments a bit more fun can help. I noticed just about everyone in my 11th grade chemistry class made a good grade, I'm thinking that may have been because my teacher seemed to have us a do a LOT of lab activities that were fun an interesting for the whole class.
About using 10% of our brains... Someone said it's a myth, that's correct. We use every bit of our brain, every last bit. Most of it that we don't notice, let's call it our primitive brain(thebrain without the cerebral cortex), is for all our non-concious actions; our hearth beat, breathing, digestion, movement, pain, etc. You don't think to yourself, "I want my heart to beat." Your brain simply forces your body to pump your heart. We are probably only conscious of 10% of our use with the brain, since so many of our brain's electrical and chemical magnificence is hardwired to our sub- and unconscious. The cerebral cortex is where the mystery of Consciousness begins... and no matter what someone tells you, most of what we know about Consciousness is still mostly a mystery.
the math seems off to me... but still - i'm nit-picking. the junk dna thing does kinda make sense to me...i didn't look at the article, but i know what junk dna is - dna that doesn't encode an mRNA or therefore a protein (which does the 'work') since junk dna doesn't 'do anything', it is free to generate mutations that are passed on with no ill (or positive) effect. eventually, a piece of junk dna could mutate into having a start codon and a stop codon - which would then make a protein that could possibly have an effect (beneficial or not) on the person.
Does anyone here think that anything remotely similar to the Hulk could be possible? I'm not talking about the Hulk from the movie where he grows to be 15 feet tall, but rather something similar to either the TV show or the new movie. From what I've read, scientists are trying to develop a new drug which can be injected into a specific part of the body, causing it to heal faster and grow bigger than before. The effect of this drug is supposed to be permanent, so if this reaches the open market, I hope there are no fatal side effects or anything close. I'd actually like to study and see what could be done in terms of creating a sort of superhuman, so if anyone can lead me into the direction of what I should be studying, please do.
The funny thing about that is people wait until they get obese and get all kinds of diseases, and then talk about wanting to be healthy. Soon humans shall learn...soon...
Species evolution, has morphed into greed and the highly specialized accumulation of personal wealth. The new parameters; of survival of the fittest A species genetically mutates when environmental/survival pressures exert a prolonged influence. I'm not sure, if Intellectual, and Spiritual Awareness are specific/endemic too this occurrence Does Ontogeny recapitulate phylogeny http://www.iscid.org/boards/ubb-get_topic-f-6-t-000214.html
Humans are actually devolving. Becoming more unfit and average intelligence slipping a bit. If any large scale disaster happens you can expect a very primitive performace.
nah i doubt it things are probably going to start changing maybe because of the way we have been treating the earth or maybe just because and we're going to have to adjust to our environment the survival of the fittest happier people live longer or so ive heard and when people have a hard time adjusting its a lot of stress they wont live as long maybe its full of maybes but i dont think we're done evolving i think somethings going to happen big the earth will act different it might get colder or hotter than we're used to species will die off and the little things that they have done to make and impact in our world that we did not notice will be gone that'll cause things to change i didn't really read anyone elses responses because this is just what i think at this moment but i could be totally wrong who knows but someone told me that 50% of species will die in the next 50 years something like that i dont doubt it i would love to save them
i agree with the one above mine my earth science teacher in 9th grade would preach to us about whats going on well anyways he said ever since he was little they never had air conditioning/heating he would always sleep with his window open he said he hardly ever gets sick because he has become immune to everything in the air & has gotten used to the change of weather he told us that it would be good for us to leave our window open if he was thrown into the wilderness by any big disaster or anything like that im sure he'd be one of the few that survive
there are more people than people to be sick and diseased in the world now than there were 100 years ago. With humans it doesn't have to be survival of the fittest and that might not be a bad thing. Even if weak humans bred other weak humans and a new species of weaker humans came about because of it, that doesn't mean humanity in general would be affected badly. It would just be more diverse. Physically weak doesn't mean they can't contribute, maybe even more than a strong person. I think there are different species of human right now. Not superior or inferior, just evolved slightly different.
the perfect evolution on human will be controlling Time and space.. wether it's by machine or organism. some sort like Heroes tv series. LOl
