Going to start a small closet grow, questions?

Great, thanks for the help. I have some other questions but idk it's all minor like watering, nutes, pH and stuff.

Follow maniacs advice... get the 400 and a good sized centrifugal fan to exhaust the hot air out of the closet. An air cooled hood really wouldnt hurt considering the size of the space... You will also need some type of odor control for when you make the flip to flower...

 

Where could I find a centrifungal fan?

Also how bad can it get with the odor because I live in a a chill house with no neighbors.

 

Well they don't necessarily have to be small and single stemmed........and you definately don't need a LARGE mother plant or a seperate room.......just a small area, i use 1ft X 1ft X 1ft to root clones......and you don't need a mother plant......just clone from the clones......granted a mother plant is easier but you can always clone from your clones......seen a few growers go years cloning from clones and no mother plants.

this was my last run in the 3ft X 3ft.......unfortunately i had to chop them half-way through but they would have pulled a nice harvest and they weren't single stemmed......plenty of popcorn stems underneath there. Think the pic was like 3.5-4wks flowering.....was a 10 week strain...

Can some one explain what a ballast does?

 

you can find fans EVERYWHERE.........you can get them on the internet (grow stores, ebay, craigslist....), look in your local newspaper, heating and cooling businesses(they usually have older squirrel cage fans for cheap.....thats where i got mine).

oh yeah, so your going to go with 2ft X 3ft, but how tall is it going to be?

as for smell, if you in a house where everyone in the household knows your growing and you dont have neighboors or frequent visitors you can get away with no odor control..........i don't use any but my grow is in a backroom and it's all closed up when visitors come.....i've never had a problem. But if you have lots of people coming by then i would suggest getting a carbon filter/scrubber........during late flowering plants WILL stink it up.......just depends on your situation. The safest route really tho is just getting odor control so you don't have to worry about it.

 

Keeping it really simple......a ballast is the power source for your light bulb.

 

The plants should be about 2-3 feet tall once I end the 18/6 timer....

Depending on my budget I might get a deodorizer I probably won't.

Can you give me a link to a decent grow guide or a place where I can get a book? I need a full reference.

 

i don't necessarily have any links to grow guides but i have Jorge Cervantes' latest grow book and it is excellent covers almost everything.....another great book is BOG's book........both can be found at amazon.com.

So your going with the 400 watt, what do you do about the infared for the flyby's (might not be such a problem in CO). would aerospace heat blanket material help hide the energy?

 

99% of police departments can't afford to do random flyovers... flyovers are usually used to get a warrant if cops have suspicions about a grow at a specific spot... I wouldn't really worry about a 400w at all either, it's a small light...

LOL.. i love comments like this... 400w is just fine man.. flyover could sit on your house all day with a 400w and see shit.
