I've tried the depo shot, the nuva ring, the patch and the new implanon. Out of all of those the ONLY one I recommend is the implanon. The depo shot, which I was on for 3 years, made me gain more than 40 lbs. Also After about 2.5 years they told me if was effecting my reproductive system badly and to drop it and try something else. The shot made me VERY moody 24/7 365 days a year, and iit completely changed my personality. The nuva ring, which I was on for about 3 months, made me have insane and intense yeast infections. When I say insane I mean I got 4 yeast infections within a month. The patch, which I was on forr about 6 months I believe, didn't stick at all, I had more painful and stronger periods and it made my boobs feel VERY hard and painful. I went to the doctor for that last part and they told me to get off of the birth control IMMEDIATELY. I've now been on the implanon for 6 months and I've completely stopped having a period (thank god), with no bad side effects. It lasts 3 years so if you're looking for long term birth control I DEF recommend this. I hope this helps and I'm sorry it was so long :]
