hahaha, i was in town once gettin on the bus and some black guy just grabbed my arm really violently, and he just said 'we like you, we like you' him n his mate were grinnin at my dreads, and me and my sister were like 'wtf?!!'
LOl i have some black dudes say stuff like look at the white boy he got dem dreads but this lady was trippin
I was on the bus station a few weeks ago and there's this black guy who is like a security guard there and he has some killer dreads. He came up to me and asked if i was Rastafari, I told him i wasn't but we struck up a conversation. Afterwards i was compelled to read up a bit more on Rastafari beliefs and way of life, just out of interest, although i believe it's everyones right to have their hair how they want i thought it would be interesting and at the same time courteous to at least be a little less ignorant, i did read that it is believed that non rastafari people with dreads are considered a wolf in sheeps clothing /o: Anyhow the mans name is Sherman and everytime i wait for the bus after work i have a friend to talk to about music, arts and life (o:
On the flip side, the best compliment i got was when i was at work. This older guy came in supporting a full head of ancient locks with a thick Caribbean accent I was working in the back when he saw me, and then continued to the front desk. he then asked if he could be dealt with by me as I was one of his people" "his first words to me were, Jah is rasta-fari, he does not see colour, just locks" I still speak with him to this day.
I'm sorry u got insulted but racism and stupidty know no color. I get it from some of the blacks where I live cause they think I should do my hair their way. I am bi-racial black, hispanic, and white, I still get shit ignore them and their willful ignorance.
I haven't experienced any racism, but I had one old gal say to me "That's quite the hair-do you have there." Thinking she liked them, because, surprisingly, alot of old gals do, I responded "Thanks!" She looked me in the eye and replied "I didn't say I liked them.", frowned and walked away. All I could think was "Why did you say anything at all then????" I have gotten waaaay more postive comments about my dreads than negative. I can only really think of maybe 3 times over about 7 years (2 sets of dreads) that I have been offended by someone's comments about my locks.
