Not really, but Palin. The owner says that he wants the display viewed as art that is appropriate for the holiday. "It is Halloween. It's time to be scary. Its time to be spooky," he said. Is it less appropriate to hang a black effigy than a woman? Would there be a little more outrage if it was Obama hanging from a noose? Maybe someone should try it, and we can compare news coverage. http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/10/29/palin.noose/index.html?iref=newssearch
Ohio Resident Hangs an Obama Effigy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ZAAvt7idN8 These videos have been getting pulled from youtube almost as fast as they are being posted.
yes, it's worse to hang an effigy of a black man. If I have to explain to you why, you are truly clueless. Let's say i called a white guy uncle tom, then I call you an uncle tom. are they equal, or does historical context add to the information transmitted?
I don't like the woman, but it's just in poor taste, all around. I didn't see anything "halloweenie" about the dummy of Palin. Put a witches hat on her for crissakes and maybe I can buy into the excuse.
Just 40+ years ago and before that here in the deep south Real Black men were hung and put on display on halloween. I believe they were called lynchings. The guy needs to be arrested for hate crimes for what he did about Palin. It is horrible and it will only boost support for her and McCain. I am appauled.
The whole country has a collective memory of lynchings. 40 years ago? Try 1981. Hanging a Palin effigy does not evoke lynchings of Blacks by racist whites like yourself, rebel. If you had bothered to listen to the whole story, an effigy of obama was hanged as well. The one is in poor taste. The other is beyond the pale.
The Obama video strikes me at terribly wrong somehow. It's like it's trying to evoke XYZ feeling. I don't trust it. Just to be clear, I'd rather see Obama in than McCain - nothing will change, I'd just rather look at Obama than McCain for the next number of years. I can't pin it because I'm very tired right now, but that video leaves me wondering.
it's just a you tube video, and a hater is no reason to change your vote either way. What pisses me off is racists coming on here pretending it's no big deal, and that it doesn't stoke some kind of national fire best left smoldering.
