This year, more than 29 million Americans will choose no religion. We, the people at SayNoToGod.org and The Partnership for a God-Free America™, would like to see that number grow. We are dedicated to maintaining the right to religious freedom. It IS okay to say "NO" to God. Our goal is to provide people with the information and guidance they need to choose Atheism and live healthy, God-free lives. Overwhelming demand for Atheism and its acceptance has led to the creation of SayNoToGod.org, an international God-free, Atheist organization. It serves as a resource to communities, helping to establish Atheism and improve its place in society. It helps to give people the skills needed to recognize and resist the subtle and overt pressures that cause them to experiment with God or become involved in churches or church activities. SayNoToGod.org is universally viewed as a model of promoting Atheism in the community. SayNoToGod.org continues to move forward with the The Partnership for a God-Free America™ to further promote and support Atheism

    especially the part in bold...
    very freaky and ironic

it sounds like atheists are going to be little annoying peole that go around and tell people to not believe in a god
And then atheists are gonna get a bad name... hey, it could happen!
stay out of other people's religions

I personally think that this is good. I'm an atheist and it really annoys me when people try to tell me I'm wrong or I'm going to hell. Where is my right to freedom of religion. It's about time the atheists turn the tables and make the religious nutters listen to our side for once. Maybe they should go as far as the catholics and muslims have done in the past and kill anyone with opposing ideas. Fair is fair.

Yes, but these people quite evidently don't believe in God. It is wrong to point a finger at all believers in God, when the actions of the above mentioned people isn't Godly. They say they believe in God/the truth, but merely have a deluded conception of God.

In all honesty if someone thinks that those actions are the word of God then their religion cannot be based on fact, and thus is open to suggestion as to its authentic origins.

A true believer in God will be symapthetic to any agnostic viewpoint as any such a viewpoint is similarly a common fluctuation of life.

Don't shove your beliefs down other people's throats. Doing that makes you sound desperate.. as desperate as the christians trying to convert you.

Just accept/respect other people's views, dammit.

I'm an atheist, and I definitely don't want to shove atheism down someone's throat. I don't care what you believe in. But, you have to understand that atheists across the country are very frustrated. They see/hear religion anywhere you go in this country. It feels as if religion is being shoved down our throats. It's especially frustrating to see religion playing an active part in politics. So atheists aren't necessarily looking to get people to believe in atheism. They're just looking for more acceptance. Under 50% of Americans today still would not vote for an atheist simply because they are atheist. This is what frustrates us. We are a group that still is not accepted by people.

That's right. But I don't think trying to "shove atheism down someone's throat" makes much sense, because as you said, you're not in a position of strength. I don't think religion itself is the problem (obviously, since I'm a Christian). I think irrationalism is the problem. This country has had a Christian majority since forever, but the Christians of today are a far more fanatical breed than they were thirty years ago. What happened is hard to explain. Fallwell had something to do with it, as did Ronald Reagan and the rise of televangelism. Catholics and Protestant fundamentalists have patched up their differences and joined forces against abortion, gay rights and other perceived menaces. I suspect that it's largely a reaction against liberalism and modernity, and the suspicion on the part of the religious right that the godless secularists were winning the culture war. So what to do? Maybe recognize that not all religious folks are enemies, and that some are potential allies who might be driven away by strident anti-religiosity. When people like Sam Harris denounce religious liberals and moderates, they close the door to the only strategy that can possibly work.

We've had organized religion for some time. It's nice to see the atheists are starting to organize and are getting their points across as well.

    I agree.
But what they're trying to do is get into people's hair and make them atheists, because apparently they cannot accept other people's religions.
what they could do is raise AWARENESS, not CONVERSION.
Because some people think we're moralless, satan worshippers. which doesn't make sense, because we do not believe in satan

yeah, and it was tacked on there only a few decades ago.

and I don't see that website as "getting into peoples' hair" or anything. All it really has on it is the definition of atheism and a few pictures of physicists. In what way is it cramming shit down your throat?

    fucking people.

You think a "say yes to god" website with pictures of the pope/drawings of krisna or the flying spaghetti monster and a definition of theism is really trying to convert people. Get fucking real. that site looks like a fraud trying to get donations via paypall. case closed.

I think atheists should be focussing on teaching people that they can say NO to RELIGION. But they shouldnt necessarily tell people not to believe in GOD. God is a natural concept for human beings. We are all human beings. The problem is that people believe things like the BIBLE. which is a bunch of contradictory words, but is treated as a statement of truth. And this in itself is a direct contradiction. And they decide to do thigns together as a group, believing the bible.

People should allbe seekers of their own religion, and we could all learn a lot from eachother about the world.

but guess what!!!?? most people cant handle that. they just listen to what the important ppl tell them. This is also natural.

So I think the best move for evangelical atheists is to teach people not to listen to the bible or other scripts - IF god is real then he is obviously not something that any man can have more of a connection with than anyone else. IF god is real then it is beyond the limitations of this world and thus we shouldnt expect that our worldy differences, eg our seperate bodies, would connect to god any more or less.
So people should never feel guilty because of what someone told them god thought. People shoul dbe tought that if God is to be in their life, it should be purely through their connection with God and their whitnessing of God. But the bible cannot be accurate. Neither can any scripture that has survived word of mouth. So no man's word on what god wants should be accepted

I dont believe in god but I think that is totally seperate from opposing religions and dogmas

think what you may, but promoting atheism is wrong. i am doubting god and i wish i didnt, taking a philosophy course has changed my life and perspective in every aspect. it made me enjoy my life less not having the afterlife to look forward too...
