I need to know if they have campsites nearby. Legal ones. After all. It IS in a National Park area. I'll only plan the trip, If I can camp out while I'm there!
There is some campsites inside mesa verde national park a little ways away, They sucked last time I was there. There should be some national forest area down there, I want to say that the san juan national forest is in colorado down there near durango.
I was there a couple years ago an I didn't see nothing. A piece of concrete, some indians selling Navjaho Tacos (very good), and some portapottys. No electric, all the indians were running generators. I don't think there was any local water either. Campgrounds must be a few miles away somewhere. We stopped for an hour then continued on.
There's a real nice campsite above Delta, CO. It sits on top of Grand Mesa. There's a beautiful lake, good fire wood, showers (rough) and grand scenery. The folks in Delta are real downhome too. There's also some fine camping around Ouray... near the hot springs. I used to live in Ouray up by the Silver mines.
