That's a big question.... It would be easier for me to tell you who's been the most influential to my own life, and my own thinking. Most of them are people like Red Cloud, Crazy Horse, Tecumseh. Tecumseh may have come close to being THE most influential in history, had he not been killed. May I ask, why Newton?
are you freakin serious? first, let me ask why you chose those people who I never heard of...? Im talking about people who changed the world or did crazy shit, people like Jesus, Muhammad, Gandhi, Buddha, Einstein, Aristotle, Alexander the Great, King Solomon, Hitler, etc.. and to answer your question, Newton was the greatest genius ever. He invented calculus by the time he was my age, he discovered the laws of motion, his law of universal gravitation, contributed to optics and prisms with light, did work in alchemy, and practically invented natural philosophy (physics). The man was an intellectual monster.
The most influential person, at least on a genetic level, would be Ghengis Khan. http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2003/02/0214_030214_genghis.html and techumsa was an early 19th century native American war chief who was able to unite many great-lake tribes against American colonialisation. maybe the poster was pointing out that your history has a decidedly western perspective.
I guess it depends on where in the world. Too many to name, but to name a few; Nelson Mandela, Wiilliam Shakespeare, Jesus, Einstein, Queen Elizabeth, Marie Curie, Joan of Arc, Alexander the Great, Buddha, Muhhamed, Aristotle, Augustus Caesar, Adolf Hitler, Lenin, Christopher Columbus, Homer, Queen Victoria, Martin Luther, Napoleon Bonaparte, Michelangelo.
obama! lol jk but um my top three would have to be 1.Jesus 2.Bob Marley 3.This one rasta dude at the swap shop where I live
1. Socrates/Epicurus 3. Genghis Kahn 4. The Buddha 5. Leonardo DaVinci Newton would probably be in the top 5-10 range. And the only reason The Buddha is fourth is because his influence didn't reach much into Western civilization until later on and still hasn't gotten that widespread as opposed to Genghis Kahn who forced his influence on the majority of the world as he conquered more than anyone else ever has.
Probably Jesus Christ- Look at all the shit went on & still goes on ,in the name of Jesus Christ , & Christianity. The dude was influencing shit before he was even on this earth . Multitudes were killed in his name . To be fair ,a lot of good is done in his name also. Anyway that would be my vote for most influential- for better or worse.
darthkacie was correct to name herself as the most influential in history, for this reason - ask yourself "Who's history are we supposed to be talking about"? Without the individual there is no history. So 1) Me 2) Dr. Wernher von Braun 3) Tim Berners Lee 4) John Milton 5) Kraftwerk 6) Plato 7) Charles de gaulle 8) John maynard keynes 9) Einstein 10) Margaret thatcher
Interesting question... Bob Marley probably tops my list. Tiger Woods, Muhammad Ali, Martin Brodeur, Mario Lemieux, Roger Federer, Rodney Mullen, and Tony Hawk on a sports level. These are my sports heroes for obvious reasons. Leonardo da Vinci was the real freakin man. Such a shame his works didn't get out in time to save the world... George W Bush might just be the most influential person in history, just in a bad way... Actually, now that I think about it, Mao was. Again, not in the best of ways. It's tough not to be when you have control over 1 billion + people.
That's easy, the great prophets. Buddha, Mohammed, Christ, Moses, The guy/chick that founded the hindu religion. These are the people responsible for the largest religions in the world. Everyone is affected, some might say afflicted, by religion. Even if you're an atheist, there's no denying that most of the worlds morals and laws are based on the teachings of these religions. Don't kill. Don't steal. Don't inflict harm on others. All of these are religious teachings. All of these are, nearly universal, law. All of these are generally regarded as being morally good commands by most of the world. This is due, in no small part, to the religions these men founded/spread. If that isn't influence I don't know what is.
As for a total human race history, I'd definitely have to say some kind of religious leader. The one who controls the masses is the most infulential. No way in hell cold the most influential person (on a global level, mind you) be a musician or some native american guy, just doesn't work that way. I do love Bob though... The Mushroom Man
