Communism should adopt new thinkers - the old worn out ones are olde worlde and not really relevent to a modern economy or a modern political situation. To hold on to the old style thinkers is to deny that ideas can become dated.
Its like christianity when they claim the bible can solve all modern problems - but inside us we know thats a silly claim to make. Communists should stop quoting Marx and Trotsky or whatever and whoever and think again on the great idea of the solidarity of the working classes. In Britain however the SWP is kind of hanging on to the throne of the far left but they are bourgeois as hell. Its thinkers are upper middle class and you cant have a revolution from your armchair in your slippers if all you think about is patting the dog. The dog needs to bite the master again an soon before the rightwing regain power ! wake up the thinkers of the left rather than be kept in place by them. let power come from the ground up - not from the elite down

Time to get thinking again and talking especially in the universities - time to bypass the old parties of the 70's and 80's and move on beyond that old rhetorical framework - problem is - how - how can the socialist leftwing rebuild afresh? there is no power in the leftwing in the UK since they broke the back of the unions no people power and no fiscal power
Britain needs to chuck the SWP or get it to start thinking again - but its running out of steam and support

    Not a prob.

Just goes to show that there is an increasing number of revs who are sick of watching their camps focus on philosophical quarrels and infighting while the beast continues to consume all.

There are new Communist type thinkers, more critical theorists or neo-marxists. The best of these is Erich Fromm. Google him, or look at Wikipedia. In " To have or to be", Fromm points out a new Manifesto for the human race, based on Marxism, Freudianism, Christianity. Marcuse is another thinker, check out " One-Dimensional Man". Joe Jones

i dont know why there even needs to be a neo communism movement at all. for the purposes of communism the communist manifesto really goes straight to the point and doesnt really need any additions or subtractions from it. it isnt in the idea that has caused communism to fail it was the way people chose to enforce communism that has lead to its collapse around the world. if you could find someone who will follow communism as it was truly meant to be and not make it a corrupt money hungry leadership as most communists ended up being. then it would work fine. russia due to corruption and overall economic mistakes caused it to fall back in the 90's. although china happens to be doing well and they were communist for many years and still are today. they perform communism as it was meant to be. so it is lasting and growing larger. so if you really want to know how to run a communist nation that will work just look at china and its policies.

one recommendation i propose for communism is to completely disassociate itself from the state.

now i know its often claimed communism = anarchism, but this is simply not true for many/all people i talk to.

Communism was meant to be huge investments by foreign multinational corporations and a stock exchange for local capitalists to trade shares?

    Beat me to it.

Also, Secret Police, Censorship, a class-system composed of party members and non-party members, rich ruling the poor, no direct control of ones own labour or it's product....

China is about as communist as McDonalds
