How do you feel about killing?

Such a broad question...killing what? For what purpose?

Even the Dalai Lama has said that violence is ok in extreme cases of immediate danger but what most people don't seem to realize is that violence is the LAST resort. It is the most innefective way of solving a problem when you look at the big picture from the perspective of karma.

Animals, I think they can be killed for food but humanely which is rarely done.

 

I will never agree with killing people for any reason. One is not (and must not be) that powerful to finish with someone's life.

 

My husband was in Afghanistan and a 13 year old boy tried to kill him... Now when he left here I told him to do whatever he had to to come back home.. and he did...he thinks god hates him now hes a completely different man.. I cannot hate him for what hes done, he has punished himself enough for it.

 

Well Beatle Girl, what would you suggest doing when an intruder comes to rape and kill your family, or burn your village out and slaughter all the males to prevent possible violent opposition to their tyrany? How about when a racially motivated forigen government bent on destroying your way of life invades your nation and starts building up Death Camps to "Purge" your country of what they deem to be "Undesirables"??

 

Well, maybe there are some situations...right now I'm studying about the 68 student movement in Mexico and it was horrible situation that ended up in a massacre with 400 or even more deaths.
What I mean is that it is unforgettable and unacceptable when people does it "just because".

PsyGrunge, I think the O.P. is more questioning the philosophy of Absolute pacifisim as it seems some people have a tendancy to be in 100% support of the notion that it will work in every case faced by the various societies of the world or at least their words would lead one to interpret their beliefs as being such??

 

It all depends on the situation.

 

I left the idea open for interpretation so the idea only goes as far as you want it to.

 

If someone was trying to kill me or a member of my family...

Has anyone seen Rambo 4? A good example of killing like what has been suggested earlier. A place at war and a spiritual group goes in attempting to preach a good word and in the end the spiritual people wind up killing to save the life of another.

Like others words: Someone gets raped somewhere in the world, another kills a family member and gets away with it, an infant is sexually raped, sliced, tortured from a truely sick individual.... If you agree that killing is acceptable and forgivable: When should it be? When should it not be? For the opposite- state your belief. Your feelings/belief is all I ask.

 

Acceptable to stop tyrany in all its forms after other peaceful means of negotiation have been exhausted.

well, for starters - i'm completely atheist..

 

i belive that killing is something that is a necisary for food as in killing plants to eat or four legged , fowl or fish , but to kill another human being that is something that i feel depends on the context i would not kill some one for not converting religions i wouldnt do that to them i would show them commpassion through letting them live that we are equals , in the case of family if they were hurting any one i call my relations to the point of them dying then yes i would think about it but revenge is not the key in all aspects . To kill is to take away a life . yes even a murder kills , but it is better to let him suffer in jail then to kill him , he has time to think and if he beilves in what ever then he can repent . you may not beable to take the killer out of man , but it is also the Laws of the Jungle to kill or be killed , but in modern day socity . i from what i beive in , that we do not need to kill for the sake of land or food . tho in other parts of the world i can not speak for them . so in this tho i wish to live more primatively , i dont want to live in the world of now were Crimals KILL because they get a thril out of it , or beucase there Dealer who is in some were group decides that beuase u didnt pay or do things there way u are dead. killing is not an awser it is an exuse to hate .
Only for Food , and if it was back when we were tribes to defend the land that we hunted on other than that NO KILL , i know that to know Peace u have to Know war , but We all do in our own lil ways in our lives we fight our own wars weather or not to disown a friend , or to hate ur Ex Spouse , to frite over what ur bose said , or the car in front of u . the list goes on .
my point is it is up to use to make the choice , to know what is right or wrong , it is not a simple choice but it is one that has caused a lot of controvesy . May U be blessed in ur soul to make the right choice .
