I started taking Yaz in the summer, and for the first 3 months or so I had VERY bad nausea, absouletly NO sex drive, and I gained a few pounds, I've had slight numbness and tingling in my face..I also think my acne worsened. Last month I accidently missed a few days or pills and had to stop that month and wait until my next period. Last night I took a pill again for the first time since last month. Today I've felt nauseas and qweezy. Has anyone used Yaz and how did it work for you? It's supposed to be this new amazing pill with a lot of benefits, but for me, and from what I've heard from a few other people it hasn't been that great. I just don't want to continue feeling so nauseas and sick for the next few months, but I also don't want to play around with a bunch of pills when they could have even worse effects. Help!
Wow, I am sorry to here that. I take Yasmin. I think that is the same thing. I was prescribed that because it has low levels of hormone which make you not so nauseous. Also, it is not supposed to make you gain weight either. It did make my boobs huge though, thats not bad. Do you take other prescriptions? You definately need to talk to your doctor.
I was on Yasmin for years and like the above poster, I had no side effects, except for breast growth... Maybe you should try that instead?
I'm taking Yasmin right now and I third the boob claim, but only know got noticeably bigger the other just got kinda big, my acne cleared up entirely but I gained 12 pounds. The very first night I took it, I threw up and suffered the worst cramps known to man.
I take Yaz, and I know a friend who takes Yasmin. My friend has never had problems with Yasmin, but then again, she hardly ever takes it - she takes it for hormone regulation, not birth control, so she forgets it quite a lot! I've never had any real problems with Yaz. It hasn't affected my breast size, nor has given me nausea or anything like that. It did, however, give me some spotting and breakthrough bleeding for the first three or four months. Everyone's different, though. The side effects of Yaz for me were not all that bad, and they were very temporary - I'm now in my fifth month of taking it, and everything is fine. Everyone's different, though, so as cheesy as it sounds to say it, I'd say to talk to your gynecologist.
I've been on Ortho Tri-Cyclen, Ortho Tri-Cyclen LO and Seasonale. Ortho Tri-Cyclen has a really great rep, and for me it worked well and I had no side effects. Seasonale gives me the benefit of going three months without a period, and once again, no side effects. Just make sure you talk to your doc about the side effects and stuff and hopefully he can prescribe something that'll actually benefit you rather than causing all those terrible symptoms.
Well, I was first reluctant to go for any type of birth control pills but due to my hectic working schedule, I simply could not afford to remain absent from my work during "those days". On my friend's recommendation, I first ordered Yaz from yaz birth control and I got them quickly in three days. Now, I'm on Yaz for past three months and what I say is that it is fine with me so far! Though I suffered from nausea, headache and spotting initiallly but things started getting better after a month. My doctor has advised me if I feel something very serious in coming months then stop it continuing. But so far so good with Yaz!
I'm on it but i just started it a couple of days ago so I really couldn't help. However based on the symptoms you described, I think you might want to check with your doctor about switching pills.
I was on Yaz and it made me feel crazy I can't explain it but I didn't like it at all. I was crazy feeling for like 2 weeks before my period and very moody but I think I was moody mostly because of how it was making me feel and that I didn't like it. I stayed on it for 3 months to see if I got used to it and when I couldn't deal with it anymore I took myself of it and started the tricycline stuff It hasn't made me feel crazy but it has been effing with my period timing but the doc said that's normal and it should regulate itself. I hope so.
this is my 25th day of taking YAZ. i haven't gotten sick or anything, but i've been really crazy. like totally moody and absolutely insane. i go off on everyone for the stupidest shit and i've been fighting with my boyfriend so much lately. it's rediculous really. hopefully it will be getting better in a month or two. it's not just a slight change and i know i'm not just noticing it because i'm looking for side effects of this pill, but i really have been so much moodier and crazier lately.
Having side effects when just starting off on birth control is normal. Try it for another few months and see how it goes. I've heard a bunch of good things about Yaz, so I think it's worth another shot.
i wanted to be switched to yaz, but my insurance didn't cover it. so instead i was moved to Zovia, which is very similar. i have definitely had a major decrease in mood swings, irritability, and acne. just a side note ladies: my doc told me at my last appt. that it's essential to take the pill at the EXACT time every day, and if you miss it by even 15 minutes you can get pregnant! isn't that wild? not taking it at the same time can also result in breakthrough bleeding, which was my case, and thus the reason she told me this. isn't that wild? be careful!
I've been on Yaz for about 6 months now. This last week, I had to be off them for a week, and my libido has been through the roof. Being on THIS pill (hasn't happened with others) has made it a lot harder for me to get aroused. It definitely stabilized my mood and helped with cramps, but honestly, I'm not sure if it's worth it.
I have been on for about 2 or 3 weeks. First week was kinda bad. I had really bad headaches and upset tummy. I functioned by drinking pepto and exedrine migraine My Doc was pretty straight up with me though. She said it is crucial to take it the same time everyday, by doing this alone the side effects will be much better, and there is less chances for break thru bleeding. Also she said it could be bad for like 3 months while my body adjusts. I was driven to this point though, I mean no one WANTS to take a pill that might make them sick for 3 months. But My periods are so painful and the emotional things that come with my period got to be to much for me. So so far my side effects have been manageable. I also have noticed some mild depression and anxiety creeping up. As of right now its nothing I cant handle. Plus I really dont ever get hungry anymore.
i'm taking yaz as well (in my first month, starting the white pills tomorrow) and have had bleeding for about two weeks. i've not had any side effects other than that and an improvement in acne. for a little bit i was crazy moody, but that has passed
i have just started taking yasmin. i have tried others and found they give me that "crazy" effect. so thought i would try yasmin with the much lower dose of the pro- hormone. cant report on any side effects, as i have only taken one pill. so i guess we will see.
I take yasmin. It's been great for me! My acnes cleared up, I had pretty much no PMS, I didn't get cramps and my boobs got really big. But it does make me bleed a lot more, which sucks. But overall, I like it.
birth control is such a russian roulette you know? When I was taking ortho tricyclen lo I thought I had OCD or bipolar and all kinds of disorders until I got off the pill and realized my body just couldn't deal with all the hormones! I tried a few different ones - Lutera, the patch - but I think it's just not right for me, considering I lean toward instablility as it is. But plenty others find their niche, don't be afraid to be picky!
i was on ortho trycylen lo for 3 months and was constantly nausious. i go today to switch to another form of bc.. tho after reading these i'm scared to try yazmin. i dont know what i'm gonna try yet.. but dear lord i hope it doesnt make me nausious..
i have been taking yasmin for two weeks now. i've found that i have had a small change in appetite (not as hungry) and have been a little bit irrational. but i still feel clear in the head and not moody or depressed. otherwise i have found it to have no other side effects for me yet. which is so good. very impressed.
