I've posted this video before, but I can't imagine a story that more powerfully, eloquently, efficiently, and accurately describes the most powerful effects of psychedelics. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2MFMB7dPk-k This man was not a hippie. He had almost none of the preconceived notions of what psychedelics could do... only whatever Leary told him beforehand, which was something along the lines of that it could induce a mystical experience. Imagine ingesting psychedelics without the social context. This is a man who up until this point had completely dedicated his life to faith. God was his life. Psilocybin completely shattered his perception of reality. He was stuck in the endless now - at first the hell, and then the heaven, of the endless now. He saw within minutes a lifetime's worth of bottomless fear followed by all of the glory of God's grace. Doesn't get any better than that.
Great Leary quote... when asked about suicides under the influence of LSD: "The statistics show that taking LSD is no more dangerous than signing up for a four-year course at Howard College. A certain percentage of people who do either are going to get into trouble." Hahahaha. Not sure if I agree completely, but it's a fantastic point. LSD is reality, and reality is dangerous. So is Howard College.
So wait, you want to hear personal experiences of trips or stories of trips others had at Millbrook or what? There are a few old timers here on HF who might tell you real-life stories of their encounters w Uncle Tim...and there are hundreds of killer trip tales out there of people who did as well. BTW Tims 88th birthday is tomorrow, tho no longer in a physical body I think hed still love it if we all smoked a J in his honor or whatever.
I wasn't expecting any first-hand accounts, but I certainly wouldn't turn one down I am just fascinated by the journey those guys took. They really dove into something they believed in and they did it all the way, and as trailblazers, I'm sure there are some amazing tales to have come out of it. I know they did 200 mikes every four hours for like 10 days, but I have no idea what actually happened during the trip. All I've heard about that little experiment was a quote from Ram Dass saying that "What happened during those 10 days... not even we could believe." That intriguing quote was, I think, my subconscious reason for starting this thread.
If you havent read High Priest or Art Kleps' Millbrook you havent heard the bulk of their stories... Millbrook by Art Kleps http://okneoac.com/m/chs/toc.html Art Kleps claimed he had a fullblown Kundalini opening in the bathroom at Millbrook after someone there overdosed him and he didnt know what happened until he found a book on yoga which described his experience to a T. Cant find High Priest online (its out there somewhere), but check out this book The Man Who Turned on the World by Michael Hollingshead, the man who first dosed Uncle Tim from a jar full of confectioners sugar with several ampules of pure Sandoz: http://www.druglibrary.org/schaffer/LSD/hollings.htm Ill see if I can find a cool story online I can copypaste.
