Look at all this perfectly good food!! Just a day old...Otherwise exactly what you would find on the shelf. (You can't see as well as me of course.) But it is perfectly fine. Thrown out by a local bakery. Dumpster diving can turn up some real good treats. Do you dumpster dive? I will do my first one on Wed. My room mate does it all the time and is how he gets 50% of his food.
i used to do that a lot when i lived in santa cruz.. but not here.. there just isn't any where to really do so.
haha duh you scroll over it to get a larger image. and any store or bakery after hour is real good to hit up. Not so much restaurants. But my roomie scored that one. I will go with him wed. Just started rooming with him.
I found my man by dumpster diving... ... This is a picture of us from our second anniversary... I get my glass and tile from this tile shop, they usually toss it out but they give it to me instead...
i'd have to be dead broke to do some shit like that. i've thrown dead cats and animals in those things. plus i'd be more concerned with the germs n shit then anything. i was actually listening to the radio the other day, and they were these people that call theirs selves "freebers" or some shit, that didn't pay for anything and thats were I heard them talking about dumbster diving and shit. fuck a bunch of that.
my sister in law always does it. and shes cooked me food from her diving escapades. not really into it myself. people/companies shouldnt waste that much in the first place
um, there are other places to dumpster dive you know. I said 50% of food...Bakery being one place, shops being other places, stores, etc...you know, there is fruit, veggies and many other great things to eat too, haha.
um well duh of course you won't get food out of there if there is a dead carcass next to it. You simply check. most of it is fine. most is even wrapped, as displayed in the picture. You are from the US correct? Land of the germaphobes...I can't understand most Americans extreme fear of anything germ related. Your food grows up in crap and dirt... You don't have too be broke . Why pay full price on one side of the store when the other side has the same stuff more or less for free?
I don't think i could do it. I am super sensitive to smells and afraid of germs in my food. I think it would be fun though and admire people who do.
That is thing, most of it is fine and mostly germ free since it is in bags. Again, a lot of your food grows up in crap and dirt (veggies)... just wash it off or clean it off at worst. most of it is shelf quality. if not...leave it. ...not to mention all the sprays on the food....
I dont do it for food....but I make a heck of a lot of money with old lawnmowers and satellite dishes and other resaleable stuff that I can buy at the reuse center at the local dump for 1$ or two
I don't eat a lot of food that isn't organic and I use that veggie wash stuff. The starbucks in this town doesn't have the organic milk option and often times i get grossed out thinking of all teh hormones and puss in my latte. I am really weird about food.
I don't think that it's too safe to dumpster dive for food around here, but I have gotten more stuff out of dumpsters than I could possibly count.
