Which is why I can respect these ads a lot more than the religious ones. Theyre obviously a lot lighter and DO leave room for opposing opinion, and theyre not threatening. Still, doesnt make them right because theyre better, is all I was saying, and I still dont think anyone should be plastering thoughts about religion on signs, billboards, buses etc

I have a thousand times more respect for a view like yours that is open to suggestion and not completely closed, and certainly not preaching, than religious nuts who insist theyre right and Im going to burn:cheers2:

    Up to £24,126.31.

That's over £3000 raised since I started this thread an hour ago, madness!

God has a range of cultural associations, we'd most likely associate it with the traditional Christian view of the God of the Bible I would suggest, ie the beardy skydaddy. Anyway the phrase:

"There probably is no God, as in the traditional God of the Bible, but if you want to use the word God to refer metaphorically to something else, like "the unknown" or "the universe as a whole", or "the laws of nature", the way Einstein used the word God, then most of us wouldn't have a problem with that. Now stop worrying and enjoy your life"
wouldn't fit on the side of a bus...

The fact that we've been a Christian nation for many hundreds of years and everyone learns Bible stories at school may have something to do with it...

Im talking adults here, people with their own minds. People who can rationalise that actually the bible teachings are not the one ultimate truth and there are many ways of seeing things. People who can look around and see people believing in other Gods, Goddesses, nature, all manner of things. Or are people really that stupid they just go on what they learnt at Sunday school? What I meant was I dont understand why people arent free of that kind of thinking and just a tad more open-minded. It doesnt really matter what our great grannies believed
Most of us have discarded a lot of that old Christian way of life, why retain the God image?

Largely yes, I fear... People's beliefs correlate overwhelmingly with the beliefs of their parents and culture.

I don't think we should force beliefs on anyone, and I think we should protest those that do. Organised Christianity has such a pervasive influence on so many aspects of our culture, our social infrastructure, our education system, that time has come to speak out for freedom of thought and belief:cheers2:

Hehehe! This is soo funny :D

I don't take it as an athiest comment or advertising. To me it's lighty philosophical, positively affirming, refreshingly reasoned and just damn funny!

    *giggles* :p

Adverts do my head in a little too, but money makes the world go round so meh, I've gotten over it

Very good idea, not easy to come up with positive messages.

I'm going to suggest that this message isn't particularly aimed at christianity either, the peoples that do seem to suffer themselves the most are of a different persuasion.

This is pretty funny.. really, atheists need to stop pussyfooting around the whole religion issue. It may be fighting fire with fire, but that's what's needed to show that adverts for one form of belief or another are just fucking stupid and shouldn't be allowed.

Yeah, I *believe* there's no god.. of course I don't have proof either way. it's just what makes more sense to me..

people should be allowed to believe inn god or not believe in god. it hardly makes a person bad to believe either of those two things. i can think of numerous examples of where both throughout history have murdered and oppressed other people on a large scale.
