I know there were several members here that supported Ron Paul during the primaries, I would like to know what happened? We have all been bombarded with bullshit rhetoric from the Obama and McCain campaigns for months. Do any of us remember what Ron Paul stood for? Watch these videos and tell me what you think after hearing what the current campaigns have been telling us. Ron Paul Courageously Speaks the Truth https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G7d_e9lrcZ8&feature=related Ron Paul: A New Hope https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FG2PUZoukfA Just curious as to what happened. Do people think he is a kook? Too radical? Are people not ready for the change that he may bring? Too much at stake to take the risk of voting for Ron Paul?
Ron Paul is a reactionary who wants to restore laissez faire capitalism. There is nothing new and cutting edge about that. It was the economic system that existed in the nineteenth century, and which was rejected in the twentieth century. Even in the Republican Party Paul never got more than a 6% approval rating. If one feels something strongly it is easy to overestimate the number of people who feel the same way. It is easy to underestimate the difficulty of converting others to one's persuasion. There was never any conspiracy against Ron Paul. He lost because he was selling something most Americans do not want to buy.
Wow, I think my IQ just dropped about 80 points reading your thread. The video I posted clearly disproves your accusations.
He's still very much relevant today as he was when we just first learned about him. I mostly liked his stances on the protection of the constitution, foreign policy (the way he connected our foreign policy with terrorism because U.S. imperialism spawns Anti-American terrorism. It's so obvious. It's amazing to me how people aren't getting it), ending of the drug war, IRS, the asking for the removal of the CIA... He had the right mind set and was the most articulate guy on the stage, easily. Tens of thousands of people are protesting in the streets of Iraq and this reflects itself as the echo of the Iraqi people's desires. Yes, people that are pissed off at us from all of our intervention (which causes their friends and families to die and makes it easier to recruit people to fight against what they rightfully see as their oppressors. [Gallup polls shows that 68% of Muslims sees Americans as conceited]) Many people are flooding in from all over Islamic countries to fight what they see as their enemy. We have had such a negative impact on these people. Also, factor in all of the people that want the occupation to end for good reasons. US being there brings all of those 'whatevers' into their country and then chaos ensues - This group wants this; that group is pissed off at that - The people just want occupation to end and are finding multiple avenues to get it to stop. Some violent, some peaceful, some just cave in. Call them insurgents, call them terrorists, call them freedom fighters. It doesn't matter. It's should be pretty clear by now that our foreign policy is only adding fuel to the fire. This is a clash of cultures and the rise of Islamaphobes in this country only proves this war of cultures exist. If you think that diplomacy isn't effective then think again. There is no such thing as an inherently bad culture, or at least the peoples within that dogmatic culture that is brought about by their environment (hearing about Americans doing this or causing that has an effect on people, so people look to their holy book for their answers. They ask themselves, "How can we end our suffering?" and sometimes extremes come to the fore of the mind. Change our foreign policy, and watch as things cool down all around the world. It's fundamentally more difficult to recruit people for a cause when that cause is weakened by a non-interventionist approach. People are more easily recruitable when they see their loved ones dying and or hear about further violence brought on by occupation and intervention. They see what Americans are doing and think to themselves, "Well, maybe they ARE the infidels and they should be stopped... maybe if we enacted this rules we can bring about peace and free ourselves from our oppressors". Ron Paul was one of the few making any real sense. He may not have been perfect, but he was the step in the right direction.
