    black/folk metal. I like doom/stoner even better, which I don't always consider metal (Acid King and Sleep for example), but also stuff like Electric Wizard, Cathedral, Celtic frost and Candlemass.

    Thrash metal is the best. Have you heard Machine Head's album The Blackening. A classic. If you have not heard it what are you waiting on? Death metal and black metal suck.
