Where do you buy your clothes?

Hello to all here
I'm interested in where you buy your clothes. Or do you make your clothes by your own?
Sorry if such a theme does exist, but I couldn't find one.

 

mm. everything in my cupboard is from op-shops or from those 'hidden' hippie shops you accidentally stumble upon. there are a few items that i've taken from friends when they decided they no longer wanted them anymore... every now and then i may walk past something i like in 'shopping centers' (blah):ack2:, but generally don't buy it just because, i dislike wearing a top that 20 other girls in the same area as you is wearing.

so yes, op shops, friend's hand-me-down's, hidden treasures that are not so hidden to me anymore.

I don't have specific shops which I regularly purchase from. Well, maybe the exception of Footlocker - the last 2 or 3 pairs of trainers I've had have been brought from there.
But as far as clothes go, psychedelic fashion is the key and so when I'm out shopping I'll be on the pulse. If I find something that appeals, I'll buy it. I've found a lot of good and fairly cheap clothing in Hed shops - but will tend to browse online and short list the highlights.

 

thriftshops, and fabric stores. if i want something that screams "I AM MEEEEE!" then i have to make my own.

clothes making is very easy, the trick is to learn WITH your learning style, not against it. are you visual, auditory, or tactile (hands on)? I can look at what pattern pieces should look like, and duplicate them, without having to buy an obscenely priced pattern. i don't like paper patterns! i avoid pins whenever i can, unless they are absolutely necessary, like with pattern match ups, but even then, i don't like them.

making your own clothes is awesome. when you buy clothes in the store, tou can easily see the quality (or lack thereof) in the stitching. you have to decide whether you'll wear it, take it home to find you have nothing to match it, etc. when you make clothes, you get exactly what you want. you can even dye fabrics to get colors you didn't have before. you can save a lot of money looking through the discount section, even if you don't really like the fabrics there you can practice designing without wasting a more expensive fabric.
around here there are 2 main crafting chains, Hancock Fabrics, and Joann Fabrics and Crafts. Joann's is stuck up, not helpful, and even their cheap section is more expensive than it needs to be. plus, their 'cheaper' fabrics are hard to get to, and poorly organized. I used to work for Hancocks, everyone is helpful, they have a good selection, and their cheap fabrics are easy to get to, and sift through.

i just did my first batch of tie dyes. i needed more dye though, the kit said it could make 8 shirts... yeah right. i only made 3 and the last shirts colors are so faded cuz i had to dilute the mix. i'll probably give it away, im not down for wearing pink and light blue.
but i had fun doing it. a bag of 5 blank shirts for $13.

 

I get mine from Thrift shops galore. I am huge on upcycling so I redesign them for me to wear or for others to wear and I sell them.

 

I make my own and if not then I would shop at Victoria's Secret. Also like Abercrombie, Hollister, American Eagle Outfitters, Forever 21. And iStorez for deals and discounts that my favorite stores offering.

 

Mostly i buy my clothes @ the nearest mall. Sometimes, browse at different online stores.

 

thrift shops! no doubt bet places to get clothes and more, like once i got this awesome backpack i use when hiking and whatnot, and a huge bag of wooden beads for $3.

i dont think i own a single piece of clothing (or anything for that matter) that isnt second hand. except my underwear which come in bulk from sears
fuck if im gonna spend my hard earned cash on generic, overpriced, trendy clothes.

 

I wish I had the patience to make my own clothes. I can do basic customization like sewing on sequins, iron on transfers etc but I can't actually cut some fabric and put it together. I'd get frustrated lol

If I want to buy clothes that will last a long time I get them from a charity shop. It's amazing the amount of good clothing you can get that people whould have otherwise thrown away.

 

thrift shops, hippie or other interesting shops,
if not too expensive. flea markets too, especially
for cool jewelry like bracelets, rings, necklaces,
anklets. sometimes find cool stuff at pagan gatherings.

 

American Apparel, skate shops and charity shops

 

i usally find cool fabrics from old shirts at thriftshop, cut em up, then tie em up.
i dont sew that much unless im sewing on straps or patches.

 

I prefer second hands, ethno shops and home-made products. I obtaine also some of my clothes from my friends...some of them works in fashion business.

 

yeah... I pretty much shop at thrift stores or search regualr stores high and low for the best deals. or I accept donations from family and friends and then sometimes alter them to my own liking, a practice I've been doing since I was like 13 or so.
