punk is good stuff. i was worried for a minute i thought no one was gonna say rancid. i love the murphys (irish pride:) ). but theres the ramones, nofx, greenday, h2o, pennywise, agnostic front, rancid, i saw less than jake at warped tour and i just wasnt sure what to think. i know ive liked stuff from the other bands mentiond but i wouldnt be able to tell you what ive heard. i like checking otu the small local bands too theres some good stuff the never really gets out there. i find that although punk is awsome, my music choice is far too widespread to be a devoted fan. but dont get me wrong when i feel the need to really rock out i know where to go.

    peace, bob

I see you are a Sonic Youth fan. If you knew anything about Sonic Youth, you would know that they are punk. They are not hardcore punk, but they are a branch of punk.
Punk is great because anytime you feel angry or people have been giving you shit, you can just blast some good old fashion punk into your ears. the high energy of punk can make you want to just let loose and go crazy. It really helps me out. I am kind of a loner, and it gives me something to belong to. Also if you hate the way our government is then punk is a great form of music for you.
I think your crazy if you think punk is boring.
I think it's the greatest most hardcore form of music ever.

Yeah but everybody has different tastes. My friends think im crazy because I think hip hop/rap is boring, its just not my bag, then they complain when i play folk music haha. Luckely most of them like the bands i mentioned above. Long story short you cant be expected to like everything.

IMO it's the energy and passion, and also the DIY ethic.

If you're angry, noise is more potent than punk. If you hate the way your government is, voting is more potent than punk. If you want hardcore, porn is more potent than punk.

The ethic of punk is very laudible, but those who defend it tend to do it very badly. Sonic Youth subscribe to the punk ethic, but their music hasn't sounded like punk rock for a long time. If you knew anything about Sonic Youth, you would know that.

    Melt Banana.

That's about all I can think of right now. NOFX are dreadful.
