    1. only one thing is perfect

2.Yes it is as it is supposed to be or else it would not be. We don't need an incentive because change happens continuously throughout all of existence. The incentive you desire is just that, a desire. Incentive should be your own acceptance of reality not some final solution where everyone is satisfied. If everyone is still separate then they will never be satisfied. Wanting the change is holding you back, accepting and letting go will start the change of the world but from your perspective only. In other words all these "problems with society" are only problems if you look at them as such.

The way things really are, is what we experience in a normal state of mind.

LSD just distorts our brain chemistry, it is not real, just imaginary.

The visual warping of our perception of reality is not imaginary, but it is distortion. Same thing with the distortion of sound. That much, at least, the chemical is responsible for.
But the enhanced awareness is more real than anything we can dream of during sobriety. Your brain is literall flooded with data that it normally blocks out from being received because it is too much and would drive you insane after a very short period of time. LSD causes these filters in your mind to be opened, allowing more perception and understanding to take place within you. That is not imaginary rayoflight, that is just reality enhanced.

I'm far from one of the most experienced trippers here, but in my experience, things don't seem all that different on LSD. Reality is just way more intense :)

I'll be honest, the first post of this thread kind of irked me. I feel like people get so distracted by the problems of society. Don't get me wrong, there are a lot of really shitty things about American culture right now, and I'm scared that this (my) generation isn't going to do too well. And this economic collapse, the Middle East stuff... very shitty. But the thing is, every individual has a certain amount of freedom to create his/her own life. Our lives are like works of art. One person who does his best to transcend and bullshit that might be around and to love himself and others and to create new ideas and art and to live an honest and good life can have a PROFOUND impact on the world. Self-actualization multiples... if you progress as a person, you will be better able to help others to do the same, and they will be inspired by you, and then they will help other people. It's a beautiful chain reaction of love and spiritual growth. Of course, the same can be true for negative behavior and its influences. The point being, why focus on the bad forces in life when all we can do is our best to be the best people we can be? Humanity is a very long way from neutralizing all of the negative forces in the world. Even if there were no government, there would still, sadly, be individuals who would do bad things, and even if, in a million years, mankind achieves some sort of total spiritual enlightenment, it's highly likely that there would still be plenty to worry about in the form of natural disasters, illnesses, energy shortages... who knows.

All of that said, there have been some very nice posts in this thread, and of course the current economic crisis is sickening, but even in a worst case scenario, hopefully people who work hard will still be able to put food on the table even if they must cut luxuries.

No it isn't, it's reality distorted. When you take LSD you still exist in this plain of existence, you don't dissappear into an alternate universe. You are contained in our reality, reality is much more beautiful and radiant than any LSD trip could ever envisage.

Believe what you want ray. Im not talking about the trippy effects of the drug, Im talking about awareness. The fact is, that when you take LSD, you become more aware of your enviorment. That is not distortion, it's enhanced perception. How you interpret that information can be distorted, but how you receive it most definitley is not. Im sorry friend but that is a fact, I never said that you disappear into a different plane of existence or into an alternate universe, I said that your awareness of this one is increased. As for being beautiful and radiant, that is up to the person to experience, regardless of the chemical, and has nothing to do with that I was talking about. Again, that is in the interpretation, not in the act of perception.

How can you define 'the way things are' as 'how we experience thigns in a sober state of mind' when everyone has a different experience of the world?

anyway this thread is about 'the state of things' more than 'the way things are', imo.

I abhor the direction to one government. But it might just be a natural progression of humanity.

But I dont really know many people who are making an honest attempt to change the world. The closest is socialists and the like who try to have a voice but they all just follow the herd

I would like to make a difference.. but a voice is needed first

I'm just gonna throw one of my thoughts in here about economic collapse. I think a huge reason for greed and materialism is BIRTHDAYS AND CHRISTMAS!!! I stopped opening presents on christmas and my birthday when I realized that and I feel it is a huge reason for greed.

The best change is to accept the way things are. Then you can start to enjoy the way it is instead of being upset over the way it is. Almost logical, no? :D

Right, but not everyone is content with a passive attitude. Some people are dreamers with ideals, and would like to make those ideals concrete in the real world, because of the dissatisfaction they currently feel.

Acceptance doesn't require denial or passitivity in the sense you speak of. How you can deny what is, when it already is? So what can you really do, besides what you are capable of at this moment? Honestly, lol. Why even beat yourself up over it? Dissatisfication also comes with unnecessary judgement towards what is, which also deny's the idea of accepting it in the first place. Still logical. Lol

Who know's what perfect is anyway? Thinking you do is what makes the way it is seem so terrible.

How is acceptance by definition not passive, giving way to the flow that has already been previously established?

What you are capable of this moment is not necessary the same as what you will be capable of in the next moment.

Denial is not accepting. You are switching levels on me. Of course one must accept something if it already exist, but that doesn't mean they must continue accepting it if they don't like it, which brings us to this...

If dissatisfaction is only a result of unnecessary judgement towards what is, then it's obvious that satisfaction is also the result of unnecessary judgement towards what is.

So, while all of this may be correct in the philosophical sense, any sort of practicality you attempt to put it to is immediately a contradiction.

    It isn't about perfection.....never was.

There is nothing that can be perceived that is perfect. I was just referring to people striving towards what they believe in.

:) I guess I'll just ramble on some more with my point since we are in a thread about the way things are. And just hinting this, I'm not speaking philosophy at all lol. Not really a fan of that stuff.

Where in the definition of acceptance does it say anything about being passive? The definition of accepting means to "hold as true", nothing said about holding them as good, or as bad, or about being passive to what is. You brought that into the whole acceptance thing when acceptance has nothing to do with it.

True, that's why we go one step at a time? Right? I never said anything against that, or even about that for that matter. Lol. Work towards whatever you want. That's how we get from point A to point B in life.

I never even said anything about being satisfied, I just said what dissatisfication is a result of and did not imply by acceptance that the opposite would be exactly the result and case there of. You're just getting too technical with duality here, and also confused. What's left when you don't judge?

Just a clear eye view of the way things are. If that doesn't bring you happiness, or a feeling of contentness or 'being' at 'peace' with the way things are, then what will? That's all I'm speaking for and have been speaking for since my original statement, is to accept the way things are so we're not upset with the way things are.

    Peace

I think both sw0o0sh and neodude make some good points and I'm not going to side with either one, but I just wanted to say that, sw0o0sh, maybe I just got unlucky when I read a few of your first posts on these forums quite a long time ago, but, I'll be honest, more than one rubbed me the wrong way. I have seen several posts of yours lately that impressed me with their maturity, outlook etc. I don't know what you've been up to since you started posting (other than, most likely LSD haha) but I can't help but notice what seems like postiive change :)

i accept the way things are and im conpletely happy with life in the present. if there is one thing i have learned it is that the best way to live is in the present, day-to-day.

but i still hold values and principles that are not popularly accepted in todays world and you can bet your ass that im going to take up every chance i get to spread those ideas. i can still see how much better the world could be. just because you have perspective it doesn't mean that you are 'unhappy'.

You can never know things as they really are because you cannot contain the truth to anything, no labels, names, philosophies. It is the way of the mind to understand and contain by forming ideas and limitations but a true understanding is knowing you can never know. "it" cannot be contained or limited in any way. Anything that you say, anything that you do is all just remaining within "it" and is just a product of "it" but anything and everything is only made of "it" so it can only exist as "it" so it will only be at peace by just being "it". Sorry if you just don't get it, but I assure you someday you will.

it should be like star wars where we have the smartest, most diligent, and most noble people to govern our society. we should create architecture and cities that work harmoniously with mother earth. we should no longer have countries but be together as one planet earth. we need to learn how to love, and be at peace with one another. we must use logic and reason, and pay attention to otherwise looked over circumstances so that we may solve our differences, instead of shoveling them under the rug. i feel that one day we shall reach equilibrium, and we will live life the way its supposed to be, with love and harmony!

Like they say, knowing, (our thoughts) is and always will be subjective, and what we choose to perceive is the objective. From this stand point its clear to see that the mind can never truly know anything.

Present moment living is where it at.

Just working on myself really. Meditating, gym, chilling, school, farting around, lsd every once in a blue moon, probably the stuff as then. Lol
