    Hi everyone,

I was just wondering if anyone out there knew what the current situation was on Bullfighting?

I know it's a controversial issue but as a Spanish student we often study about it or read things and I was simply just curious about the 'real' situation. Often what we're told in the classroom is dated or not true to the reality.

The mains things I was wanting to know are:

Is it still popular? Are there any signs of it dying out with the older generations? Are the statistics I have found accurate when they state that around 73% of Spaniards have no interest in it? Why is it popular among those who like it?

I hope someone can inform me on this issue.

    Thanks

I live in spain, andalucia here where i live bullfighting is still going on which i think is disgraceful. i dont care what people say, u cant call bullfighting a sport. its extreme cruelty. all the younger spanish people i have met dont agree with bullfighting and i read in the newspaper that the main thing that keeps the bullfighting going is the tourists. tourists come to spain and go to see the bullfighting and most tourists leave and never go back to a bull ring because it is truly horrible. the older generation support bullfighting and ive been in a lot of bars which are dedicated to bullfighting. I will never go to see a bullfight, i know exactly what goes on in the bull rings and i do not wish to see it. I will carry on fighting to stop bullfighting. I read that in some part of spain they have banned bull fighting and i hope that the whole of spain end up banning the barbaric 'sport'
