Have you ever said this to somebody when there has been an awkward silence...or you have had a row and then gone back to speak to somebody and that has been your opening line... I notice it a lot in American programmes...'specially in American programmes.
I wasn't aware that Hi was a term only Americans use... If there is awkward silence I don't say hi, I just start talking...
Well, if you see this on TV, than it isn't really, "real" I guess.. Out in the real world, people say "hi" upon meeting them or seeing them, but not really just because it is an awkward silence type of deal because that is pretty strange if you meet someone or something and you say "hi" at first and start chit-chatting, and then it gets silent and then you say "hi" again.. Haha, I'd have to bust out laughing...I mean I don't know I guess, perhaps it happens...But I guess I know what you mean maybe...
It is real I tell you. Said by real people. It is like "It's complicated" I don't mean when there is an awkward silence per se. I mean when you have had a row and you are standing there wanting to break the ice and you say: "Hi". I'm not explaining this very well. Have patience....................................................................................................... ..................."Hi"
Well I for one don't interact with anyone that way, nor does anyone with me. Television is fucking whack.
I always love it when I hear that Hollywood movies are the means of representation of Americans to the rest of the world...
Yeah the cool people of the OC and erm, Friends and I do believe 30 something. Pay my air fair...put me up and I'll kick it. I'll start with fitzys ass.
Friends: Long running sit-com 30 something: Long running erm, something about 30 somethings. Both programmes I have heard this being said. I can't gaurantee I have heard this in real life.
You might not have noticed but I was asking "real" people if they ever said this...if indeed you know what i mean that is. I've not been spoon-fed since I was 2.
