Did the U.S. elect a german during WWII? No. Did the U.S. elect a russian during the coldwar? No. So why the hell are we deciding now to elect Obama, for Christ sake, the mans middle name is Hussein!
And if the media wasn't making such a big deal over it, it would probably be a non-issue. People have plenty of reasons to be afraid of Obama (as they do McCain), but not because of his middle or last name, or the color of his skin, or the fact that he's "Muslim."
Some believe it is because we are at the end of our empire and the days of blindly conquering nations is in our past and will never return and the future requires cooperating with other cultures, rather than dominating them. Myself, I think its god’s way of pissing off the rednecks.
I don't mind the name Hussein. I did have a roommate named Hassan, which is close, but he was kind of a jerk. I think a girl named juliet put it best though:
